00:0010, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO!
00:15Starting now, White Streets, Women Elite, Tredi d'Agricolta
00:2110, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO!
00:51Only Strade is really like this, special, so yeah, it's a special one.
00:58What is special this year that you are no longer all the best in the same team?
01:03Yeah, that's true. It's nice that it's a bit spreaded now and I think we're going to see some fireworks on the road.
01:10Do you see today an opportunity to show that the women's race can be better than the men if the men is won before it starts?
01:17Yeah, who knows. I think for us it's still a question who is going to win today.
01:22We have a lot of strong favorites, so I'm looking forward to battle it out and to give my all for the win together with my teammates.
01:30And then we'll see in the finish line who is the lucky one.
01:47...squads, but there are a couple of teams that are clearly missing or released and have got the wrong rider in the move.
01:52There's Femke Kvitser. Let's see.
01:56Emerging through the dust.
01:58It's fabulous, isn't it? There is the moment that kicked on and just looking or kicking dust in the face of those who would follow on.
02:06And very, very quick to establish an advantage here, which shows you how much power...
02:11Good training!
02:18Watch out!
02:28So here is Niemeyer-Dollmer nearest to us on the camera right now.
02:33Niemeyer-Dollmer over on the left hand side.
02:40And it's Niemeyer-Dollmer that stops to just offer up some concern.
02:46I think so.
02:48Oh! Straight out the front.
02:50Goodness me, it's exactly what I said. You see the wheels, they're still white because they're trying to be active.
02:56Out a little bit of dust. You come to the first big turn.
02:59Brilliantly, she's straight back up. That shows how dialed in she is.
03:02It's whether the bike's straight. Look at the way she's holding it.
03:05Are the bars slightly out of kilter? She's going to fear these corners as well.
03:10But this is, this is clearly a little bit of empathy being offered up here.
03:15I don't think Longa Borghini feels it today.
03:17And Persico, I don't know whether it was strategy or just flown here, said that she couldn't bridge over.
03:22Bring our guide, and there is your answer today.
03:26It's not been the day for the Italian champion, and I think she's unwell.
03:30As declared, that's why Persico...
03:33Separate ourselves from this group a little bit. Shake out a little bit of the dead wood.
03:37I tell you what, there's no dead wood behind this.
03:39So much class still in this chasing group.
03:41But the rider on the very limit now.
03:44Pukpisi does not need to ride.
03:46She's got Jara-Kas line up front.
03:48So Pukpisi is doing exactly the right thing.
03:51Just following and using the fact she's got Jara-Kas down in the front.
03:54Just rocking and rolling a little bit further back for some of the others.
03:58But it's getting selective, Matt.
03:59It certainly is.
04:00Just look at the fluidity of the pedaling style there of Anna van der Breggen.
04:05I get it. It's so, so smart.
04:08As we approach the final stages of this gravel sector.
04:10Vollering is out the saddle here.
04:12She's about to make an acceleration.
04:14And this is it.
04:15This is the move of Demi Vollering.
04:17Just gapping Anna van der Breggen there, who's also out the saddle.
04:20Trying her best to respond.
04:22We've got 11.7k to go.
04:24A pre-race favorite.
04:26Demi Vollering of FDJ Suez.
04:28With so many teammates in this group.
04:30The only rider with two teammates here.
04:33And just takes with her, former winner and former TS for her team last year.
04:38Anna van der Breggen at the front of the race now.
04:41There was so much talk of that last year.
04:43Where van der Breggen was the coach of Demi.
04:45So knew everything that she was able to do.
04:47And we did see, actually, Puck Peters is being gapped.
04:50And I think this is Jara-Kas' line.
04:52Who has dragged herself back up to LeBou and Ferran Pavot.
04:56But Ferran Pavot not able to go with this.
04:58But such a strong ride from LeBou.
05:00To be able to hold that wheel of Vollering and Ferran Pavot.
05:03On that really steep section.
05:05Who, if she wasn't...
