Duterte ally says he can work with President Marcos if elected

Senatorial candidate Allen Capuyan, an ally of former president Rodrigo Duterte, addresses how he will be working with the Marcos administration if elected. Speaking at a press conference in Cebu City on March 6, 2025, Capuyan clarified that while he would consider himself part of the opposition, his stance would depend on the specific issue at hand. Capuyan previously served as chairman of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples and was the former executive director of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

00:00...unless the winner is a pro-opposition, they are the majority.
00:07So, that's where we're going.
00:09For me, I really don't want to interfere in the President-elect's statement.
00:15I don't want to interfere in the program.
00:18So, this is the reason why a lot of things are happening.
00:22So, for me, we need to identify...
00:25Let me be clear on this.
00:27We need to identify a pro-opposition or a pro-ministration.
00:31You need to be issue-based.
00:33So, you're not a person of theory.
00:35You need to be people-centered.
00:37Usually, what's happening now,
00:39everything is being discussed.
00:41If you notice,
00:43we don't talk about corruption in our country anymore.
00:47Sometimes, we forget
00:50about the abuse of money from the PBI,
00:53the Development Bank of the Philippines.
00:57The abuse of the rights of the people,
00:59the projects that are being implemented,
01:01the programs.
01:03What our policemen are doing,
01:06they're abusing their sexual rights,
01:09their warrant of arrest.
01:11The problem with drugs,
01:13it's coming back.
01:14It's even worse than before.
01:16It's like drugs are no longer legal.
01:19The problem with security,
01:22it's coming back.
01:24Our problem with insurgency,
01:26because there's a tactical alliance
01:28between the left and the pro-opposition.
01:30Our problem with security,
01:33a lot of kids are disappearing.
01:36And now,
01:38a lot of kids' testimonies are disappearing.
01:40They're disappearing,
01:42because their parents took them.
01:44They're disappearing because
01:46they were taken away by the UN.
01:51These are all important issues
01:54that are not being discussed anymore.
01:56What's being discussed is
01:58political warfare.
02:00For me,
02:01the time of the campaign,
02:03the time of the election,
02:04is the time for politicians
02:06to consolidate their political power.
02:09Once they win,
02:11you'll be in a fight
02:13with all political forces
02:16Because if you win,
02:18you'll be a people's servant.
02:20You won't be a servant
02:22of your own people.
02:24Once you win,
02:26all of that is your constitution.
02:28So that's my advice to the people.
