00:00It's only been a week since Beyond the Gates premiered, and there's already drama.
00:05But this time, it's happening off-screen.
00:08One of the show's cast members has just been arrested for a DUI and it's serious.
00:12So watch till the end to find out who it is.
00:16Hey everyone, welcome to Trend Street.
00:20Karen Huger, best known for the reality show The Real Housewives of Potomac, made her daytime
00:25TV debut in CBS's new soap Beyond the Gates, which premiered on February 24th.
00:32Fans caught a glimpse of her in the show's second trailer, where she oozed drama and
00:36sass, delivering the line,
00:38Welcome to Fairmont Crest.
00:42in a way only a reality queen could.
00:45The trailer even showed her snapping her fingers at a stunned character who had just been slapped
00:49into Next Week during an intense showdown.
00:52That scene?
00:53Oh, it was just a taste of the fiery premiere.
00:57Huger's character was right in the mix, side-eyeing and eavesdropping on a full-blown fight between
01:02Danny Dupree and Hayley Lawson.
01:05However, the new actress just got herself in trouble big time.
01:09Instead of living the high life on screen, Huger will now be spending time behind a different
01:13kind of gate, the prison kind.
01:16According to Fox 5 DC, on February 26th, just days after her Beyond the Gates debut, Huger
01:22was sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended, after being convicted
01:27of DUI, negligent driving, speeding, and failing to update her address.
01:33She dodged a reckless driving charge, but a jury still found her guilty of five other
01:37offenses.
01:38And let's just say the judge was not impressed.
01:41In fact, they didn't hold back, telling her,
01:43You were filled to the gills with alcohol.
01:45Yikes.
01:47So how did that happen?
01:49Back on March 19th, 2024, Huger crashed her luxury Maserati into a pole in Potomac.
01:55While let's be honest, way over the limit.
01:57When officers arrived, she refused a breathalyzer and field sobriety tests, but body cam footage
02:03and eyewitnesses made it crystal clear, she was not in a state to be behind the wheel,
02:08like at all.
02:09She later checked into a private rehab program, but the judge wasn't about to give her a
02:13free pass, considering this was her fourth DUI in 20 years.
02:18The judge even called her out, saying,
02:20What are we waiting for?
02:21The fifth?
02:22Before we sentence you to jail time?
02:25Despite her attorney's plea for leniency, Huger is officially heading to jail.
02:30Along with her sentence, she's got five years of probation, a $20,900 fine, and a year-long
02:36driving ban after she's released her ABC News.
02:40Talk about consequences.
02:42Her lawyer, David Martella, told reporters that Huger is
02:45Fully prepared to get through this.
02:47And is looking forward to a brighter day very soon.
02:51But here's the big question.
02:53What does this mean for her role on Beyond the Gates?
02:56With a one-year prison sentence, it's safe to say she won't be filming any new episodes
03:00anytime soon.
03:02Will CBS keep her scenes, or will they quietly edit her out?
03:06After all, having an actor with a criminal record on screen isn't the best look for a
03:11brand new show, right?
03:13Looks like Huger's Beyond the Gates cameo might be very short-lived because she's got
03:17much bigger problems to deal with.
03:20What do you guys think?
03:21Should they cut her scenes?

03:43Thanks for watching.
03:44See you next time.
