00:00Donald Trump's tariff talk still trending, even now, hours after the president's historic
00:04address to Congress.
00:05Last night's speech was the longest in modern-day history, and tonight, world leaders continue
00:10to react.
00:11We get the latest now from CNN's Julia Benbrook.
00:14President Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
00:17for about an hour this morning, following an extraordinary back and forth between the
00:22two leaders over a brewing trade war.
00:25Trump said that the call ended in a quote, somewhat friendly manner.
00:30This call comes the day after Trump enacted a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico, and doubled
00:37a tariff on Chinese goods to 20%.
00:40Trump admitted that his moves would lead to a quote, adjustment period, but seemed to
00:45double down on his tariff agenda during his joint address to Congress.
00:49There'll be a little disturbance, but we're okay with that.
00:55It won't be much.
00:56Members of Congress, even some in his own party, have been calling on Trump to backtrack.
01:02Democratic Senator Chris Coons warns that this could lead to a shock to the pocketbooks
01:07of millions of Americans.
01:09Whether it's prices at the pump, the price of vehicles, the price of housing or groceries,
01:14these big tariffs and the retaliatory tariffs we will get from Mexico and Canada will create
01:20chaos in the marketplace and further raise prices.
01:25This is just Trump's latest move on tariffs.
01:27The 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports is scheduled to go into effect on March 12th.
01:34And the reciprocal tariffs that could match other countries' tariffs dollar for dollar
01:38are set to start on April 2nd.
01:41At the White House, I'm Julia Benbrook.
