00:00Well, ladies and gentlemen, good evening, and it's great to be here.
00:10For those of you who don't know who I am, allow me to introduce myself.
00:14I'm the only person in the sport of boxing to have ever been in the same ring with Mike
00:19Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Tyson Fury, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, many, many more, and none of
00:26them ever laid a hand on me.
00:28So that's because after I introduce them, I get the hell out of the ring and enjoy the
00:33fight.
00:34Now, I'd like to point something out.
00:36This month, 37 years ago, in Bingley Hall in Stafford, a town about 45 miles south of
00:45here, was the very first time I worked in the UK.
00:51It was Frank Tate versus Tony Sibson for the middleweight championship of the world.
00:56I was nervous as hell, but by the time the fight was over and the night was over, I
01:02was in love with the great fight fans here in the UK.
01:06So I'd just like to say, in return, after 37 years, it's great to still be here occasionally.
01:12And I still, especially over the past decade, refer to the UK as my home away from home,
01:18and I love you guys.
01:20So we are here for a very special reason.
01:23Ladies and gentlemen, this is the kickoff press conference for the Ring Magazine inaugural
01:29event.
01:30Chris Eubanks Jr. versus Conor Benn, Saturday, April 26th, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,
01:38London.
01:3935 years ago, their fathers fought two times, two wars in the 1990s, for the super middleweight
01:46and middleweight championships of the world, setting the stage for a family rivalry like
01:53no other in the history of the sport.
01:56So ladies and gentlemen, this contest will be brought to you by Ring Magazine and SNK
02:02Corporation, the publisher of the famous video fighting game Fatal Fury City of Wolves, along
02:09with Eddie Hearn for Matchroom Boxing and Ben Shalom for Boxer.
02:14It'll be broadcast live on DAZN Worldwide and on Sky Sports box office in the United
02:21Kingdom and Ireland.
02:23Now seated behind me, let me introduce the chairman of Matchroom Boxing, the aforementioned
02:29Eddie Hearn, the CEO and founder of Boxer, Ben Shalom, the legendary trainer and corner
02:36man for both Chris Eubanks Jr. and senior, Ronnie Davis, along with Chris's head trainer,
02:44former heavyweight contender, Jonathan Banks, and the father of Conor Ben from the WBC Boxing
02:52Hall of Fame, the former middleweight and super middleweight champion of the world,
02:58the Dark Destroyer, Nigel Ben.
03:01So at this time, ladies and gentlemen, let's meet the fighters and bring them out to the
03:06stage and to their seats.
03:08First, with an outstanding perfect record, 23 fights, 23 victories, 14 wins by knockout,
03:16the former WBA continental champion and the current, pardon me, and the undefeated champion,
03:25Conor the Destroyer Ben.
03:35Conor Ben, undefeated, and his opponent on Saturday, April 26th, with a record of 34
03:42victories, 23 wins by knockout, three defeats, he is the IBO middleweight champion and former
03:48IBO two-time super middleweight world champion, Chris, the next generation Eubanks Jr.
04:14Making an entrance like his dad, ladies and gentlemen.
04:17So let's get on with the rest of this press conference.
04:20It's for the fans.
04:21It's for the fighters.
04:22Before we move on, as a fighter, I want to be seated as close to my enemies as possible.
04:28I want to be able to see.
04:29I agree.
04:30This was Eddie's choice.
04:31This was Eddie's choice.
04:32Of course it was Eddie's choice.
04:33Of course Eddie wants the promoters to be in between the fighters.
04:37So I'm going to sit here and Ben, you should sit there.
04:39You do what you want.
04:40I don't know who the fuck you're talking to.
04:41Good idea, Chris.
04:42I don't know who you think you're talking to, silly bollocks.
04:47So at this time, ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce our host for the press conference,
04:51Mr. Ade Oladipo.
05:00Thank you, Michael.
05:01I don't think I'm needed.
05:02That was already going to start without me.
05:04But before we get going, thank you so much to everyone for attending all the media.
05:09But most importantly, I always say this to fans as well.
05:11Thank you for turning up.
05:13Manchester has become, I think, the home of British boxing.
05:16We've had so many good events at the AO Arena, the Co-op Live, and I think there are going
05:20to be more big events coming in the next few months.
05:23I will say this, though.
05:24It is a little quiet in this arena.
05:27So on three, I do need you guys to join in with me.
05:30On three, I want you to say Manchester as loud as you can to kind of get the energy
05:34in this building going a little bit.
05:36So one, two, Manchester.
05:37Wait, wait, wait.
05:38One second.
05:39Let's try that again.
05:40Let's try that again.
05:41A bit more Manchester.
05:42Here we go.
05:44Again.
05:45On three.
05:46One, two, Manchester.
05:47There you go.
05:48That's more like it.
05:49Welcome to the kick-off press conference for the Ring Magazine's inaugural event, Chris
05:50Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn, which will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, April
05:5126th, in London.
05:52We all know the Benn and Eubank rivalry.
05:53We all know the names of the fathers.
05:54It goes back four decades.
05:55And 32 years ago, the ring was a place for the ring.
05:56And we all know that.

05:58And we all know that.
05:59And we all know that.
06:00And we all know that.

09:59And we all know that.
10:00And we all know that.

10:09And we all know that.
10:10And we all know that.

10:12And we all know that.
10:13And we all know that.
10:14And we all know that.
10:15And we all know that.
10:16We all know that.
10:17And we all know that.
10:18And we all know that.
10:19And we all know that.
10:20And we all know that.
10:21And we all know that.
10:22And we all know that.
10:23And we all know that.
10:24And we all know that.
10:25And we all know that.
10:26And we all know that.
10:27And we all know that.
10:28And we all know that.
10:29And we all know that.
10:30And we all know that.
10:31And we all know that.
10:32And we all know that.
10:33And we all know that.
10:34And we all know that.
10:35And we all know that.
10:36And we all know that.
10:37And we all know that.
10:38And we all know that.
10:39And we all know that.
10:40And we all know that.
10:41And we all know that.
10:42And we all know that.
10:43And the situation we find ourselves in here today is that, for the first time in boxing
10:49history, in a mega fight, there are two bad guys.
10:56Fun fact, I've been booed into every British fight I've had since 2014.
11:06Just let that sink in for a second.
11:09No one cares, Chris.
11:11That's 11 years, 11 years of being the bad guy.
11:17I'm a veteran at this stage, a supervillain, if you will.
11:23I remember the first time I got booed into an arena was against a fighter called Billy
11:28Joe Saunders, another scumbag in the boxing industry.
11:35And it's a cold, dark moment in your life when you realize you're in an environment
11:43where thousands and thousands and thousands of people want to see you get hurt and lose.
11:52Even recently, walking into Wembley Stadium, AJ versus Dubois, I walk in, the cameras are
12:01on me, my face goes up on the screen.
12:0480,000 people boo me into that arena.
12:08And that is after a career-best performance against Liam Smith, where I beat him in a
12:14rematch.
12:18I say all that to say that on April 26th, I'm probably going to be walking into the
12:25same environment.
12:28But it's OK, because I'm not going to be alone.
12:33Like I said, there's two bad guys in this fight, and there's one in me who has accepted
12:42his fate.
12:44I gave up on my dreams of being the hero a long, long, long time ago.
12:51The other still wants and believes and dreams and prays of being the good guy, of being
13:02the golden boy.
13:03That's what I believe.
13:04No, no, no.
13:05Speak on behalf of yourself.
13:06I know.
13:07I'm just saying what I believe your mindset is at this stage.
13:09This whole time, this whole 10 minutes you've been talking has been rubbish.
13:11It's OK.
13:12And no one's even like, what do you want, a violin?
13:14The sickening thing about the situation is, Conor, you had it.
13:19I have it.
13:20You don't have it.
13:21You had it.
13:22No, I have it.
13:23Your career is done.
13:24You're fighting a welterweight at the end of the day.
13:26That sums up your career.
13:27You had the whole public behind you.
13:30Everyone wanted you to win.
13:31Everyone wanted you to be the next big thing in boxing.
13:35I never had that.
13:36No one cares.
13:37You know what I would have given to be in that situation that you were in?
13:40But still nobody cares.
13:41You had it.
13:42But nobody cares still, Chris.
13:43You're still going on.
13:44And you pissed it all away.
13:46You literally pissed it all away.
13:49Now, you're here.
13:51We're at this press conference.
13:53We're going to fight.
13:54And you're going to try and use me to get back into the public's good graces.
13:59It's just not going to happen for you, kid.
14:01Sorry to break it to you.
14:03Connor.
14:05To you, Connor.
14:06Thank you, mate.
14:07You're the guy jumping up and waiting.
14:09You've chased Chris for this fight.
14:11Again, the same question to Chris I'm going to ask to you.
14:14Two and a half years later, you've been through a lot, right?
14:17Here you are now.
14:18What's the feelings and emotions knowing that this fight is on April 26th?
14:22Yeah, I think all the talking has been done.
14:26Obviously, what I've been through is very public, obviously.
14:29But excited to just get an April 26th and end this man's career.
14:34You said, me and you have spoken a few times,
14:36and you've always said openly, privately,
14:38that you feel like you can get this job done within six rounds.
14:41You expect to get it done within six rounds.
14:43I think we all know how tough this man is.
14:45Why are you so confident that you can knock Chris Eubank Jr. out that quick?
14:53Do you know what?
14:54Seriously, that's all.
14:55Just look at his career.
14:57Every time he's stepped up, he's failed.
14:59Every time.
15:01Yeah, you face better oppositions.
15:02Well done, you.
15:03But this is the end of your career.
15:06This is the end.
15:07This is it for you.
15:09I'm 28.
15:11You choose to fight a welterweight over Shiraz.
15:15What was your last fight?
15:16Hold on.
15:18Over Adamas.
15:20Over anybody with a world title.
15:24You choose to fight a welterweight.
15:26Your career's done.
15:27You're not a welterweight, Conor.
15:28You've achieved your career.
15:29You fought a light middleweight in your last fight.
15:31I fought a light middleweight to prepare for you.
15:33That's all.
15:34I'm a welterweight.
15:35No, you're not.
15:36I'm a welterweight.
15:37You'll be a welterweight after this fight.
15:38And you are going to get rendered unconscious by a welterweight.
15:42Yeah, yeah, exactly.
15:43Like Liam Smith.
15:44Bet that brings back horrors.
15:46Exactly like that.
15:47Exactly the way he jumped up to 160.
15:50And he done exactly that.
15:51Had you dancing all funny.
15:52That's exactly what's going to happen April 26th.
15:54Except by a welterweight whose name happens to be Ben.
15:57And do you know what?
15:58You can retire off to the sunset with your pension fund.
16:01But that's this is you done.
16:05Shivers.
16:07I love that.
16:08Chris, I was watching back the old presser.
16:10And it feels old now, two and a half years ago.
16:12And one thing that stood out was that you said,
16:14this will be a walk in the park.
16:16You expected it to be easy work then.
16:18What about now?
16:19Two and a half years later now, what do you expect?
16:21Still the same walk in the park?
16:23Still easy work?
16:24Or do you expect it to be a tougher challenge now?
16:30You go online.
16:31I go online and I see that there is a split.
16:38I either see people saying,
16:40Connor Ben's going to knock Eubank out early
16:43because he's too young, he's too strong, he's too ferocious,
16:46he's too hungry, he's too angry.
16:51Or Eubank wins on points because he's too big.
16:55Those are the two.
16:57And this is not just the public, actually.
16:59This is respected members of the boxing community,
17:02trainers, fighters.
17:04Apparently the only way I can win this fight
17:06is just because of my size.
17:09Where's the fucking respect?
17:12I've had 34 fights, 25 KOs,
17:18and I can only beat this guy because I'm a bit bigger than him?
17:23Yes.
17:24No.
17:25Yes.
17:26I'm going to beat him because I'm a better fighter than him.
17:28But you're not.
17:29In every single park.
17:30But you're not.
17:31If you look at your career, your career is different.
17:33Your career is done.
17:34I don't know.
17:36But he cannot beat me, that's for sure.
17:39Based on what?
17:40Billy Joe, George Groves, Liam Smith.
17:44I'm undefeated here.
17:46You've tasted defeat.
17:47You've been rendered unconscious before.
17:49You was eating the canvas, literally.
17:51Rendered unconscious?
17:52I finished the fight with my feet, my friend.
17:55Your corner saved you.
17:56Otherwise you definitely would have been eating the canvas.
17:58Rendered unconscious is far from what I was.
18:00You what?
18:01Sorry?
18:03I didn't hear what you said.
18:04When you're up on your feet, the fight continues.
18:09I'm content with a loss like that, and I avenged it.
18:15Still got booed the next time I went out into an arena.
18:17Because Liam Smith was 20%, and you still look shit.
18:22Wow.
18:23You was 20%, and you still look shit.
18:26He threw maybe two punches around.
18:28Please explain to me how you want to give yourself credit.
18:31Are you really happy about that?
18:33Why are we talking about?
18:34No, I'm just saying.
18:35You just said you was out on your feet, and you revenged the loss.
18:38You're really happy about it.
18:40Are you actually happy about it?
18:42It was a great performance.
18:43Let's talk about more pressing matters.
18:45Let's talk about something a bit more relevant.
18:47Come, let's go. I'm ready for it.
18:50Like I said, we're both bad guys.
18:52Do you accept that?
18:53Do you know that you're down here in the dumps with me now?
18:56You are a villain in this sport.
18:58Chris, I could not care less.
18:59I definitely ain't going to get my violin about
19:01and sit talking in a press conference in front of people for a good 20 minutes.
19:04Connor, Chris, I would normally not interrupt you,
19:07but I do have an important phone call.
19:09I think both of us in the audience would want to hear from this person as well.
19:13You can speak now. You're on.
19:17Hello.
19:18This is His Excellency, Turkey Al Sheikh, on the phone,
19:21wanting to speak to everyone.
19:23I am waiting for you in London for the conference in 27.
19:29We will be there. I will be there.
19:32What was I thinking when I do these fights?
19:35I don't know.
19:36The wait for reason.
19:38Let's see.
19:40And usually, usually,
19:45I hope that Eddie Camp can do something.
19:49Usually, Eddie Camp usually lose.
19:53And, Ben Shalom, I don't hear your voice.
19:56I only hear Eddie. Why? What is the reason?
19:59That's normal, Your Excellency.
20:03I hope, I hope that Ben Connor can have a chance to revenge for the family.
20:13See you in 27.
20:15I think this is the biggest fight in England will be.
20:19And there is big surprise.
20:21We will do big concert inside the stadium.
20:24We'll announce it then.
20:26Please, Eddie, try to do something this time.
20:31Thank you, His Excellency. Thank you very much.
20:36Normally, I wouldn't interrupt you guys, but obviously very, very important.
20:39Ben, you'll get your time to talk as well.
20:41I know Ben's itching to say something.
20:42Eddie, you're itching to say something as well.
20:44Conor, it's been a long time since we've seen you in the ring.
20:47February last year.
20:48By the time the fight rolls around, you're talking nearly 15 months out of the ring.
20:52You're moving up in weight as well.
20:54You can see where the challenges start to build up.
20:56No hesitation about going to 160, 15 months out of the ring?
21:01No concern, really. He's another man in my way that I've got to beat.
21:04I don't really look at him and go, oh, you're a big geezer.
21:07It's not really a concern to me.
21:09Ultimately, he's just an opponent in my way that I've got to beat.
21:12Once I knock him out, I'll move back down to 147 and win the world title.
21:16One thing I do want to address, and let's address it in public now,
21:19is the rehydration clause.
21:21Where are we on this?
21:22I don't know who to address here, but I'm going to Ben or Eddie.
21:25Where are we on this rehydration cap?
21:28Ben.
21:29Look, it wasn't something that we expected.
21:32It wasn't something that was agreed.
21:34I think the first fight, the weight limits, the rehydration,
21:38it got a lot of controversy, and it wasn't right.
21:40This was something that was added in last minute.
21:42It's something that we'll deal with.
21:44Chris is a professional, and he'll make it the way he should.
21:48But it's not something you typically see in boxing.
21:50Not at this limit. Not on the day.
21:53And it's just another thing that puts a bit of a downer on the event,
21:58when at the end of the day, this is an unbelievable event
22:01for British boxing, and it wasn't agreed until 24 hours
22:06before a contract was signed.
22:08Okay. There you go.
22:09Eddie, any response to that?
22:10No, I think Ben...
22:12Eddie doesn't get a response.
22:13I've made it very clear that Eddie is not speaking well on it.
22:16One thing I'll tell you,
22:17because you better get some better people working for you, son.
22:19It's okay.
22:20Because I'll tell you something now.
22:21What you said was very spot on, Ben.
22:23It was agreed in the contract.
22:25What was agreed was that the fight would happen,
22:30and that Conor Ben can beat Chris Eubank Jr. at any weight.
22:35That was what was agreed.
22:36No.
22:37And all of a sudden, we get demands from Conor and his team that...
22:42You do know the first fight was seven pound rehydration.
22:45The original fight was 157.
22:47I'm not worried about the original fight.
22:49You guys sprung it on us.
22:51Hold on a minute.
22:52About a rehydration clause.
22:53Then you might put on eight, nine pounds.
22:54Stop talking rubbish, Chris,
22:55because that's all you've done all evening, is talk rubbish.
22:57You said, your team come to my team,
23:00and in fact said about a rehydration clause,
23:02eight to nine pounds, that's what you put on after weighing.
23:05That's what you suggested, and we agreed.
23:08So stop pushing.
23:09Stop covering your ass for when you get knocked out.
23:11When did we say...
23:12Stop covering your ass when you get knocked out.
23:14Okay, all right.
23:15We know what we signed.
23:16That's who said that.
23:17We know what we signed, and we know what you signed.
23:19Let me tell you how, from my perspective, how it went down.
23:22It don't, honestly.
23:24Eddie.
23:25Your man said when the contract...
23:26Stop interrupting me, Eddie.
23:27Let me cook.
23:28No, no, no, because you're a plum.
23:29Let me cook.
23:30And you signed the contract.
23:32I did sign the contract, and I'm going to explain why.
23:34You know why you signed the contract?
23:36I'm going to explain why.
23:38I like a challenge, okay?
23:41When Eddie and Conor started demanding
23:45that there was a rehydration clause for this fight,
23:49guess what I said?
23:51Show me the money.
23:53Show me the money.
23:56That's what I said, you know?
23:58You know why you need the money?
23:59Because you shit the poker.
24:00That's why you need the money.
24:01If you're going to have that advantage over me...
24:03You shit the poker.
24:04That's why you need the money.
24:05...then you've got to pay top dollar.
24:06That's why you've taken this fight.
24:07You've got to pay.
24:08I'm not going to give you that advantage for free.
24:10Anyway, Eddie.
24:11You are shitting the poker.
24:12And that's exactly what they've done.
24:13Apparently, he got all the money.
24:15He signed the contract.
24:16That's right.
24:17They paid me...
24:18Congratulations.
24:19We'll see you Saturday morning for the weigh-in.
24:20...to do the rehydration clause.
24:21We'll see you there Saturday morning for the weigh-in.
24:23As much as Eddie doesn't want to admit that,
24:25and for that to be public knowledge, that's what's happening.
24:27What's public knowledge?
24:28I'm being paid to restrict my weight.
24:32No, you're on a weight penalty if you miss it.
24:34No, no, no.
24:35I'm physically being paid.
24:36Oh, yeah.
24:37Chris, you're such an idiot.
24:38Do you really think that I would ever do this if there wasn't some type of incentive?
24:42You got spun around in these negotiations.
24:43See that geezer on your right?
24:44Who I quite like now.
24:45He got spun around like a little kid on a playground on a roundabout.
24:48And every time he went around, I went,
24:50Hello, Ben.
24:51Hello, Ben.
24:52Hello, Ben.
24:53Like that.
24:54And he done a good job.
24:55He got you a good deal.
24:56But he knows what he signed.
24:57You know what you signed.
24:58Chris was paid to do this.
24:59I don't care what he was paid to do.
25:00Absolutely.
25:01Good.
25:02Bottom line.
25:03Good.
25:04Listen, we were over the moon we got 60-40 split in our favor.
25:06Next question.
25:07Oh, behave, Eddie.
25:08Behave.
25:09Now, just a little bit more.
25:10Read the contract, Ben.
25:11Just a little bit more on the rehydration.
25:12And also, one thing I want to say is this.
25:13Stop interrupting me, Eddie.
25:14No, no, no.
25:15I've got something else to say as well.
25:16This is not the Eddie Hearn show.
25:17Are you going to make the weight?
25:18I told you I don't want to hear you.
25:19Are you going to make the weight?
25:20I told you I don't want to hear you.
25:21That's not going to do it.
25:22Are you going to make the weight?
25:24Now, this rehydration situation, you know, I've never done it before.
25:31Usually, I put on around 14 pounds after a weigh-in.
25:37How long?
25:38So, I have two ways of approaching this now.
25:43I can either restrict what I eat and drink so that I make the weight the next day.
25:52Or I eat and drink as much as I want, rehydrate as much as I want as I usually do.
25:59And then on the fight day, I'll jump in a sauna or a stream room for 40 minutes,
26:03get the four pounds off.
26:04Stop covering your ass for when you get knocked out.
26:07That's all I'm hearing.
26:08I'll hit that number that they want me to hit.
26:11I don't know which one I'm going to do.
26:13It's a gut thing, you know.
26:15On the day, I will decide.
26:17But the fact of the matter is, it's actually irrelevant.
26:23Whether there's weight clauses, restrictions, it doesn't change the outcome of the fight.
26:29One thing that you all need to know that Eddie's tried to push hard over the last few weeks
26:34is that the IBF enforced a 10-pound restriction anyway at middleweight.
26:40So, that's why this is safe.
26:43The truth is, that's a lie.
26:46They moved it to 12 recently.
26:47Exactly.
26:48Which is what he did not tell you, is that it's a 12-pound weight limit.
26:52So, just another example of Eddie lying through his teeth to the public
26:56to try and make himself look good.
26:58Not at all.
26:59It's all down to negotiation.
27:00And as I said,
27:01Why is it now that only people are only hearing you say it's 12 pounds?
27:04Because that's the IBF rule that should be changed.
27:06Because you chat shit.
27:08Chris, you've been trying to pull the ball over people's eyes.
27:10You said in the first fight, you only hydrate five or six pounds.
27:14Why are you talking about the five pounds?
27:16Why are you talking about the last fight?
27:17It's 14 pounds.
27:18Nobody cares about the last fight.
27:19We're talking about now.
27:20Is it going to make a difference in this fight?
27:21The IBF enforced a 10-pound limit.
27:24Chris, just keep it in the open now.
27:26Not a 12-pound limit, not 10.
27:28Is it going to make a difference in this fight?
27:30Why are you talking to me, Connor?
27:32Let me ask you that question.
27:33Because your promoter is saying more on this table than you.
27:36But he isn't.
27:37Is this you bang her or you bang Ben?
27:40This is pretty wild actually, Connor.
27:42You're letting this guy chat for you.
27:44It's embarrassing.
27:45Say something.
27:46I'm just answering your question.
27:47I don't want to talk to you, Eddie.
27:48You're so unimportant to me, it's not even funny.
27:52Chris, let me ask the question then.
27:54Will the rehydration clause make a difference?
28:01Will it make a difference?
28:04I'm not going to lose the fight, if that's what you mean.
28:07Will I be affected?
28:09Of course I will.
28:10I'm being restricted from how much I can eat and drink.
28:12So there will be a slight disadvantage.
28:15But I'm being paid, so I will accept that challenge.
28:20It's very simple.
28:22I want to bring in someone that knows all about the Ben Eubank rivalry,
28:26more than anyone on this top table,
28:28and that is the great Nigel Ben on the end there.
28:37Nigel, here you go.
28:38This is the baton you've passed to your son.
28:40Yeah.
28:41To take the challenge.
28:42How do you feel this version of Conor Ben may be different from the version
28:46that was going to fight two and a half years ago?
28:48What I'd like to say is he's matured in two years.
28:52It's like I'm more excited about this fight than it was for me and Chris Sr.
28:59Wow.
29:00I've got more confidence in his fight than in my fight when I fought Chris.
29:05Because the way Conor prepared for the fight,
29:07he's just excelled in everything that he'd done.
29:10And people say he's moving up two weights.
29:14Conor walks around that tall stone.
29:17That's not a problem.
29:19That's not a problem.
29:20The guys that he's sparred with, they're huge.
29:23And I believe it's not like what round he's going to do,
29:27I mean what round.
29:29I think as soon as he hits him, he hits much harder than Liam Smith.
29:33And I think once Conor put that pressure on him,
29:35Conor can do 12 rounds at pace, at pace.
29:40And you know what?
29:41If he wants to come in here at 60% against my son, mate.
29:46And you know what it is, Chris?
29:48I want to apologize to you because I remember you saying, like, you know,
29:51that I was disrespectful to your dad.
29:54So I'm sorry if I offended you saying that I hate your dad.
29:56I don't hate your dad because you know what it is?
29:58For my stupidity.
30:00That was my stupidity.
30:02I'm a 61-year-old man.
30:03And you know what?
30:04I thank God for having Chris in my life because at the end of the day,
30:08we've done so much.
30:10We've left you lot to carry on the legacy.
30:14So at the end of the day,
30:15but I apologize for what I said about hating your dad.
30:18I really don't.
30:19And but because you was going on about it and at the end of the day,
30:26I just want to let you know, I'm sorry.
30:28But retribution is coming your way, mate.
30:33I'm telling you.
30:34It is coming your way, mate.
30:36You know, he's going to hit you so many times over the left,
30:39you're going to be crying for a right.
30:41He's going to hit you so many times, you're going to think you're surrounded.
30:44I'm telling you, mate.
30:45That's what I want to hear.
30:46I don't want to hear apologies.
30:47I want to hear how your son's going to be.
30:49He's going to put it on you, mate.
30:50And I'm so confident, so, so confident, mate.
30:53Good.
30:54Nigel, what in Conor's career gives you the confidence that he's going to be
30:57Chris?
30:58What gives me the confidence?
31:00Because I know my boy, he's got my DNA, but much better.
31:04It's not even for a British level.
31:06No, no, no, no.
31:07Ben, Ben.
31:08Hold on, hold on.
31:09Let me finish.
31:10I didn't fight for a British title.
31:13But you fought above British and European levels.
31:16I'm 28, Ben.
31:17You fought, yeah.
31:18But you don't know nothing about this.
31:19No, no, no.
31:20At 28 years old, Richard Evan Jr. was further than this.
31:23At 28 years old, I've got a good five years left.
31:25I ain't in no hurry.
31:26So far, what I have done is good.
31:28It's great.
31:29So far, what I've done, I'm still undefeated.
31:31I don't even know why you're talking.
31:32If you're that confident.
31:35No, we want to talk about contrast.
31:36If you're that confident.
31:37Oh, shut up.
31:38Don't come out.
31:39There was a rematch.
31:40Don't come out with some promotional shit.
31:41There's a rematch clause in this.
31:42There's a rematch clause in this fight.
31:44Which fight you asked for?
31:45Both fighters.
31:46You asked for a rematch clause, Ben.
31:47You were desperate for it, Eddie.
31:48Ben, Ben.
31:49You were desperate for it because he's got two paydays left.
31:51You asked for it.
31:52Yeah, it's two easy paydays.
31:53All right, OK.
31:54So you asked for the rematch.
31:56Just to be clear, both fighters were offered.
31:58So they want to take a number if they win or a number if they lose, right?
32:03The higher number if you win, the lower number if you lose.
32:06Chris, of course, the confidence takes the number.
32:11You asked for the rematch.
32:12We didn't want a second fight.
32:13We didn't want a second fight.
32:14Connor decides win or lose, he wants the same number.
32:17Ben, Ben, Ben.
32:18No, you can talk all day about all the confidence.
32:20Listen, classroom time.
32:21No, no, no, Eddie.
32:22You asked for the rematch.
32:23You asked for two fights.
32:25Easy two fights.
32:26Hold on, hold on a minute.
32:27You asked for two fights.
32:28One second, one second.
32:29Let's be clear.
32:30See what you just said.
32:31No, Ben, you see what you just said.
32:32You wanted the same number, win or lose.
32:33Hold on a minute.
32:34You see what you just said?
32:35Yeah.
32:36I'll pop the messages about you saying to me, make sure there's a rematch.
32:37Of course, it's two easy paydays.
32:38Don't talk to me.
32:39Don't, of course, talk to me.
32:40Nigel.
32:41Ben, you've absolutely done yourself up.
32:42Connor.
32:43Eddie.
32:44Asked for a rematch.
32:45Eddie.
32:46You asked for a rematch.
32:47Eddie, Eddie.
32:48I've got messages from you asking for a rematch.
32:50Ben, did you ask for a rematch?
32:51Of course, it's two easy paydays.
32:52Okay, done.
32:55We're getting paid more.
32:56Okay, on to the next thing now.
32:57We get it.
32:58There's going to be a rematch.
32:59No, no, no.
33:00Come on.
33:01No, it's too much.
33:02It's too much.
33:03We're not here to hear you chat shit to Eddie.
33:04It's all bullshit.
33:05That's the best thing you've said all night, Chris.
33:06The only thing, the only thing, the only voice I want to hear is Connor or my own voice.
33:13I have, I have, it's the truth.
33:16What are we doing here?
33:18What about your team?
33:19No, no, no, no.
33:20This is not a team sport.
33:21It's going to be me and Connor hurting each other in a few months' time.
33:26So all this bullshit you guys are going back and forth about now, it's irrelevant.
33:31No one's going to remember it.
33:32You started it about the rehydration.
33:34Now, I read a tweet that made me chuckle last week.
33:39It's, and it kind of sums up what this fight is.
33:44It said, the guy said, Chris Eubank Jr. is an arrogant fucking prick.
33:53Word for word.
33:56And I can't wait until he smashes the eggs out of Connor Benn.
34:03That's what the tweet was.
34:04Beautifully written.
34:06I don't understand it, but that's the passion that we are, that we have garnered now for
34:11this fight.
34:13Two bad guys.
34:15Connor, I've been meaning to ask you for a long time.
34:18It's interested me.
34:19How many eggs did you have to eat to fail those two's drugs tests?
34:24You dirty little omelette.
34:25The reality is.
34:26Please tell me.
34:27The reality is.
34:28It's been whacking my brains for a long time.
34:30No problem.
34:31Everyone wants to know.
34:32The reality is, the reality is, I've been cleared three times by the NADP, by the WBC,
34:38by UCAD, by the way, which people are a lot smarter than you.
34:42Number one, I've been cleared.
34:44Two, you will never be cleared of being a wanker.
34:50Period.
34:51That's it.
34:52So when you say you've been cleared, what does that mean?
34:54I'm cleared of people by a lot smarter than you.
34:56What does it mean?
34:57You have the IQ of a five-year-old child.
34:59Does that mean that the drugs weren't in your system?
35:04I've been cleared.
35:05Done.
35:06There you go.
35:08The entire public wants to know why there were performance-enhancing drugs in your system.
35:13And all you and Eddie can come up with after two and a half years is he's been cleared.
35:19We can't say how or why, but he's been cleared.
35:23Well, I would like to say, you don't spend nearly a million pounds to fight the case
35:32if your drugs cheat.
35:34Yes, you do.
35:35That's exactly what you do.
35:37No, no, no.
35:38He's an idiot.
35:39Because he owes Neymar four million quid.
35:41That's why he's taking this fight.
35:42So don't talk shit.
35:43What did you say?
35:45I said he owes Neymar four million quid.
35:47You not heard?
35:48No, exactly.
35:49Don't come and talk to me, you bad bollocks.
35:51This is why you've taken this fight.
35:53And you're about to get rendered unconscious for it.
35:55You're money hungry.
35:57That's the only reason.
35:58I was just giving you a chance to explain yourself to the public.
36:01I guess you guys don't have an explanation.
36:03But you're cleared, I guess.
36:06Done.
36:07By people who are a lot smarter than you, Chris.
36:10Listen, I'm sure they are.
36:11I'm a fighter.
36:12I'm not an academic.
36:14But one thing I do know is, you are a drug cheat.
36:18What I do know is you're an idiot who's taking this fight because you owe someone some money.
36:21That's what I know.
36:23How much money do you owe Eddie?
36:25Let's talk about that.
36:26I owe Eddie nothing.
36:28No, no, no.
36:29I've heard he paid for your house.
36:32He paid for your cars.
36:33I can confirm that's incorrect.
36:35We all know we can't trust what you say.
36:38But what shit are you talking?
36:39But I think that is actually the reason why you've been pushing so hard for this fight, Eddie.
36:43Because you want to recoup some of that money.
36:45I love the fight.
36:46I think he wins.
36:47I know.
36:48Of course you think he wins.
36:49No, you don't, Eddie.
36:50Of course I do, Ben.
36:51That's why I didn't want a rematch.
36:52And you made sure there was one in because your bum was flat.
36:53You wanted a rematch.
36:54Not at all.
36:55You begged for a rematch.
36:56We don't give a shit about the rematch.
36:57We care about what's going to happen on April 26th.
36:59Good.
37:00And what's going to happen?
37:01You keep talking about the last fight.
37:02You keep talking about this and that.
37:03This is the easiest press conference I've ever done.
37:04I don't even need to be here.
37:06What happens April 26th, Chris?
37:08What do you mean what happens?
37:09You tell us.
37:10Like I haven't said it a million times already.
37:12Really?
37:13You've kind of beat around the bush.
37:14You're the bigger man.
37:15Points.
37:16Have some respect.
37:17How do you win?
37:18I said I am the better fighter, not because of my size, but because of my pedigree, because
37:22of my experience, because of these 35-year-old fists.
37:27What happens?
37:30What happens is tune in and you will see.
37:33It's a good way to say it.
37:36Tune in.
37:37He's right.
37:38April 26th.
37:39Chris, I know you want this to be the Chris and Connor show, but Ronnie Shields is there.
37:42Jonathan Banks is there.
37:43And it would be wrong of me not to get a word from the great Ronnie Shields, who has been
37:47involved in Ben versus Eubank for four decades.
37:50Ronnie, what do you make of this?
37:52The sun's getting it on, just like the way you saw Senior and Nigel get it on.
37:57Well, I think it's great.
37:59Can everyone hear me all right?
38:00We can.
38:01By the way, you referred to him as Ronnie Shields.
38:04That is not his name.
38:05He is Ronnie Davis.
38:06Let's put some respect on that, man.
38:08He's done too much in the game to fuck up his name.
38:11Anyway, I've got the greatest respect for, obviously, Nigel Benn and his son.
38:17I'm old school.
38:18I've done slag fires off all the trainers.
38:22How can I not have a great lot of respect for Nigel Benn when I was in the opposite
38:27corner from him twice, two major wars.
38:31It's quite sick sometimes being in the corner, seeing them punches go in.
38:35And I think you're going to see another great fight.
38:39I would say, may the best man win.
38:41But, Connor, Chris is too big for you, mate.
38:45And you haven't boxed enough.
38:46And you haven't fought at his level.
38:47He's too big.
38:49And he is good.
38:51I'm too good, Davis.
38:52Come on now.
38:53I just spent the whole time saying how I don't like people saying I'm too big.
38:56Now you're saying I'm too big.
38:58It's the skills.
38:59It's what you've watched me do since I was 14 years old.
39:03Traveling up to London.
39:04Traveling all around the country.
39:06Sparring all these pros.
39:08Going to Vegas.
39:09Putting in the work.
39:11Paying my dues.
39:12Yeah, you sparred with Frotch.
39:13You sparred with Groves.
39:14You sparred with all the top boys.
39:16How long ago was that?
39:18What happened with Liam Smith?
39:19God, just answer me that.
39:21What went wrong there?
39:22There was a reason for that, in my opinion.
39:25But I won't disclose what I thought he lost.
39:27Even the second fight for the first three rounds, he was holding on for dear life.
39:31And didn't he realize that Smith ain't got nothing to frighten him?
39:34That they shouldn't have took the fight?
39:36Chris done what he had to do.
39:38And you put on a great performance.
39:39No, no, no.
39:40That's not a great performance, mate.
39:42I don't want to get involved in those slagging matches.
39:44It's not my way.
39:45We're not getting into that.
39:46I'm not slagging anybody off.
39:47But it was a great performance, mate.
39:49All I say is, it'll be a great fight for the fans and everyone.
39:54May the best man win, which will be Eubank.
39:58He's too big.
40:00He's too experienced.
40:01And he's very, very good.
40:02I know Eubank's better than anyone.
40:04I've been with him since he was born.
40:06Yeah, same here with my son.
40:08Can I?
40:09Yeah, I'm not saying that he's different than Nigel.
40:11All I'm saying is, a lot of people don't know what he is.
40:14I do.
40:16I'll just rest my case on that one.
40:18Eubank wins.
40:19Ronny, thank you very much.
40:20Ronny Davis, apologies again.
40:21Thank you very much.
40:22Jonathan Banks, you've been quiet at the end there.
40:25You've been nodding your head, laughing, agreeing with a lot of what Chris has had to say.
40:29What do you make of this fight?
40:31Jonathan, again, you've been in big fights, well-tarted fights.
40:33You've been alongside Vladimir Klitschko.
40:35You've been some big ones.
40:36What do you make of this one?
40:39Yeah, I want to hear from you, Jonathan.
40:42I think it will be a good fight.
40:44I knew Jonathan was going to do that.
40:46That's good.
40:47I knew he was going to do that.
40:48All right, final word from both fighters as we end what has been a very entertaining press conference.
40:54I'll start with you, Connor.
40:56Again, your thoughts on an incredible match-up.
41:00You're going to see him again on Thursday, so save some good stuff.
41:03But your thoughts on this big match-up?
41:04Genuinely excited.
41:06I'm glad that this fight could happen for the fans.
41:09I think it's not been done in history before.
41:12I'm looking forward to the challenge of stepping up two weight divisions.
41:15You've not really heard us moan about that at all.
41:19But excited to, as I said, jump up to this plate and give the fans the fight they want.
41:26That's mainly it.
41:28Just happy to get this fight done and over the line because at one stage it was looking like it wasn't going to happen.
41:32Indeed.
41:33And Chris, again, this is it, right?
41:36Here we are.
41:37A walk in the park.
41:38Easy work.
41:40Too big, too strong was a lot of the phrases you were using last time.
41:44How do you approach this one this time?
41:49April 26th.
41:52The procedure will be parliamentary.
41:56And on that note, we end what's been a very, very interesting press conference.
42:00Yeah, indeed.
42:04Tickets.
42:05Everyone's asking about tickets.
