00:00Industry sources argue whether Putrajaya and Sarawak can solve their demand for oil and gas.

00:08The sources, which are not well known, say that some statements from Kuching have caused a lot of uncertainty in the agreement.

00:16Last week, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told the People's Department that the Sarawak government has amended the maintenance of the Petroleum Development Act 1974,

00:25as well as acknowledging Petronas' exclusive right to all oil and gas resources throughout the country.

00:32However, the next day, Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg stated that Sarawak is eager to demand the right to deploy gas in the outskirts of its borders and on land.

00:44He also said that although Petronas' existing contract will continue to be in force, it must be in line with the rules of Sarawak.

00:53According to the source, Abang Johari's demand directly raises questions about the entire Petronas operation in Sarawak.

01:01If not handled well, this can have a negative impact on Petronas' finances in the future, he said.

01:09The source also drew attention to Abang Johari's request to review the future cooperation between Petros, the Sarawak state-owned company, and Petronas,
