00:00Inspiration for the next figure skaters is the arrival of the Olympians and World Champions Alex and Maya Shibutan

00:12in their visit to the Philippines.

00:14In their Ice Dance Clinic, they were accompanied by the Olympian and Filipino Figure Skater Michael Martinez

00:21who is trusted to accompany our countrymen in the Winter Olympics.

00:30Two-time Winter Olympic Medalist

00:38and Three-time World Champions

00:43These are just a few of the celebrities we met in America

00:47of the Ice Dancers and Figure Skaters Alex and Maya Shibutan

00:53or better known as the ShibSibs.

01:00They are in the Philippines as a Sports Envoy of the U.S. State Department

01:04and a path for sports diplomacy of America to other countries like the Philippines.

01:11They held an Ice Dance Clinic in a mall in Pasay.

01:16Within 20 years, they have perfected the style and rhythm of each other on the ice.

01:24I'm older.

01:26Kuya.

01:27I'm Kuya.

01:29But we're equals on the ice and we work together.

01:32And so that collaboration, we're working towards the same goal

01:36whether it's a competition or a performance.

01:38Now, it's time for the new generation of Figure Skaters and Ice Dancers to get used to each other.

01:46We learn so much about resilience in our time as competitors

01:50and to be able to share what we've learned with the next generation is something that's so important to us.

01:55One of the ShibSibs to teach the Philippine team is the Sparkle Artist Sky Chua.

02:02It was really like a dream of mine to have them come here

02:05and not even skate with them.

02:07As in, it's just a dream to see them.

02:09Just like that.

02:10Not talk to them.

02:11I just want to see them in person.

02:13The two-time Olympian Michael Christian Martinez has also bonded with the team

02:18who accompanied them in the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics.

02:23Michael and Maya also gave a sample of some ice dance routines.

02:29Michael hopes that a Filipino will be able to follow in his footsteps

02:33and qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.

02:37Hopefully, I think we're from the previous nationals

02:41and I think there's a couple of promising skaters.

02:44So hopefully, they will be able to qualify for the next one.

02:47Even without a store and just a few ice skating rinks in the Philippines,

02:51the ShibSibs say they can still be World Ice Skating Champions.

02:57We really encourage the next generation to dream big and believe in themselves.

03:01We can work on the floor.

03:02There isn't always ice time when we want to, even now,

03:05when we're traveling and when we live in Los Angeles.

03:08But we're able to focus on our bodies and our minds.

03:12And I think the challenge of figure skating is the creativity.
