00:13The Department of Social Welfare and Development, DSWD, announced that the pilot of the first implementation of the Tarabasa Tutoring Program in General Santos City was a success in 2024
00:26for the second batch of students studying in Lungsod.
00:29The Tarabasa Tutoring Program aims to provide quality educational assistance to children who are having a hard time reading.
00:38According to DSWD, the program is provided by college students who have a low income as tutors and youth development workers to teach children who are having a hard time reading
00:50while also supporting their education through the Cash for Work Scheme of the program.
00:56Our beneficiaries are our college students who belong to low-income families.
01:05They are our tutors and youth development workers.
01:10In addition, the initiative promotes literacy and supports low-income families and children who are having a hard time reading and studying.
01:23Because of the success of the program in General Santos, the Tarabasa Tutoring Program will also be launched in other cities of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and Cotabato Province in Region 12.
