Did you notice that Iron Man wore a much stronger suit in Avengers: Infinity War? Many people think he kept improving his suits throughout the movies and that the strongest suit Tony used was in Avengers: Endgame, but that’s not true. The strongest suit was in Infinity War because it was designed 100% for combat. Besides having impressive nanotechnology, it also features several energy cannons capable of destroying any alien species, as well as many thrusters that he used to strike Thanos.
In Avengers: Endgame, we see that the suit doesn't have as many offensive features as its predecessor. This is because this suit is more defensive; it wasn’t built for battle but for the "final protocol," which is when Hulk snaps his fingers. Being more defensive, the suit allowed Iron Man to endure the Infinity Stones for a longer time, protecting the wearer. The previous suit, focused on weapons and versatility, prioritized defense shields and better protection for Tony Stark. Obviously, Tony didn’t know about Thanos’s attack, which is why he didn’t change suits in the final battle against him.
