00:00The Presidential Communications Office's new secretary, Secretary J. Ruiz,

00:05has laid out his priorities under his administration.

00:08Claycel Pardilla is back.

00:12What the President wants is to give a message and a program to our ordinary Filipinos.

00:20What we want to happen is for people to know or feel that the government is for the people.

00:27There are parts of the information that should be known and helpful to Filipinos.

00:33That is the priority of the new secretary of the Presidential Communications Office, Secretary J. Ruiz.

00:40Today, Ruiz was formally appointed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:46as the fourth secretary of the PCO.

00:49Ruiz's goal is to effectively reach the government's programs and projects

00:55for the poorest Filipinos.

00:58There are many programs that people need to know about.

01:01Education programs, free housing,

01:05free, well, not necessarily, but state-owned housing

01:09for our poor countrymen.

01:13The government needs to get closer to the people.

01:16The first order of our President is that the government's message should be known to the people.

01:24The new PCO Secretary will also fight the spread of false information or fake news.

01:32There are many lies that are being told to us.

01:35There are no facts, it's not based on facts.

01:40Our facts should be truthful.

01:42That's what's true about us, not lies.

01:46Lies are prohibited.

01:47Ruiz is known for serving in the media industry for more than two decades.

01:52As a journalist and anchor.

01:55He worked as a political and media consultant.

01:58He graduated from the University of the Philippines

02:02and continued his graduate studies at Ateneo de Manila University.

02:07He replaced Cesar Chavez after becoming the PCO Acting Secretary.

02:13Chavez is now giving all the completed and ongoing programs of the PCO to Ruiz,

02:20including initiatives to strengthen its employment and attach agencies.

02:27I'm ready to give advice.

02:29If you ask for it, I tell my immediate staff,

02:35I am as good as my last performance.

02:37I will continue to help the Marcos administration in the programs and initiatives.

02:42Together with Ruiz is Attorney Claire Castro,

02:45who also served as the PCO Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer.

02:51Castro is a trial lawyer and a radio commentator.

02:55She is expected to face the media regularly

02:58to further explain the programs and policies of the government.
