00:00Expect the greater assistance of the Philippines and Palau in various fields
00:06following the visit of the President of Palau to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Malacanang today.
00:14Meanwhile, the veteran journalist J. Ruiz has arrived as the new secretary of the Presidential Communications Office.
00:22This is Clay Zelfardilian of PTV in Balitang Pambansa Live.
00:27Clay!
00:31Alan, visit President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. today, Palau President Sir Angel Wips Jr.
00:41This is the first time that Wips visited the Philippines,
00:44which was part of his two-day official visit to the country.
00:48The President of the Republic of Palau was honored
00:52through the wreath-laying ceremony in the monument of Rizal Saloneta.
00:56He was also warmly welcomed in a welcome ceremony in Malacanang.
01:00The two leaders discussed the expansion of cooperation between the Philippines and Palau
01:08in the fields of fisheries, agriculture, housing, connectivity, and social justice.
01:15The assistance in health and production was also discussed.
01:19South-to-South cooperation, regional talks, and mutual advocacy in the field of agriculture.
01:26Because of this, some agreements were strengthened,
01:29including cooperation in fisheries, consultation with the police,
01:34and improvement in the habits of the workers.
01:39I reaffirm the Philippines' commitment to working closely with Pacific nations
01:43in charting the future of the Pacific
01:45and our unyielding support to efforts to advance the resilience of our Pacific kin,
01:51which at the heart of the Philippine Pacific Initiative
01:55that we launched last year.
01:58On maritime cooperation,
02:01we committed to continue our dialogue on maritime boundary delimitation.
02:05We have also discussed the framework of our fisheries cooperation
02:10to improve our fishing and aquaculture sectors
02:13through the sharing of best practices and technologies.
02:17Capacity-building initiatives as well, development of fisheries infrastructure,
02:22and cooperation for the international market compliance.
02:29It is important to note that
02:32more than 3,000 to 4,000 Filipinos live and work in Palau,
02:38which accounts for 17% of the country's population.
02:43In 2027, the Philippines and Palau celebrated the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
02:52Meanwhile, today, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was formally appointed
02:57as the new head of the Presidential Communications Office
03:01and the fourth member of the PCO, J. Ruiz.
03:04Ruiz's priority is to share information that should be known and helpful to Filipinos.
03:12And as a veteran journalist,
03:15he is far from being able to provide effective programs and projects
03:20for the most poor Filipinos.
03:24What I want as a president is to be able to give a message and a program
03:29to our ordinary Filipinos.
03:32What we want to happen is for people to know and feel
03:36that the government is for the people.
03:38There are a lot of lies that are being told to us.
03:42There are no facts.
03:45It is based on facts.
03:46Our facts should be truthful.
03:49That is what is true about us.
03:50We are not liars.
03:52Lies are prohibited.
03:58And that was the latest news.
04:01Back to you, Alan.
04:03Thank you very much, Clayzel Pardilla of PTV.
