00:27Just my cut, when they looked at the cut they said it was cut inside as well, so it probably

00:31needs a plastic surgeon, but I think they have to stitch inside as well as outside,

00:36so I had to go there, get that checked over, scan the bones round and all, but all ok.

00:42So yeah, all stitched up.

00:43Tough fight.

00:44Because we heard that he wasn't really coming back, and then you obviously just literally

00:48walked through the door now.

00:49Yeah, the plan all week in my own head, I remember saying I want to get in, get the

00:52job done, win, get out, have some pizza and sit and enjoy an amazing show, and it didn't

00:56quite go to plan, I got took straight to hospital and had to take my boots off and

01:00stuff as I was going to the hospital, but yeah, pleased with the result, I think I proved

01:05a lot of people wrong tonight, and I'm happy man.

01:09It was an unbelievable fight, a fair play to yourself and Joshua Poizzi, so what was

01:15your opinion on the scorecards, one was very wide, what did you think of the scorecards

01:21in general?

01:22I thought that was very wide, that was a little bit harsh on Joshua Poizzi, when it got announced

01:28I kind of knew I'd won because there was no way he'd won that wide, even though I didn't

01:32think I'd won that wide, but the other two scorecards I thought were pretty, I think

01:36it was that 8-4-7-5, I always felt I was ahead, but it was always competitive and there were

01:40times where I felt like I was starting to turn the screw and then he'd rally back and

01:44get himself back into it, it was one of those fights, but like I said from round one I felt

01:48like I was always ahead in the fight, but it was a tough fight, I took some shots, he

01:53took some good shots, and I didn't realise how good of a fight it was, it was just a

01:57tough fight when you're in there, but when I've looked at my social media people saying

02:00how good of an actual fight it was, I've seen people saying I've fighted the year and stuff

02:03on Sky, and I didn't realise it was that good of a fight, it was a tough fight for me when

02:07I'm in there, but it's hard to score, it's hard to take it all in, I was coming back

02:10to the corner, they were giving me their opinion, assessing how the fight was going, but I just

02:16needed to win, I said all week I was here to win and prove I was the better fighter

02:20and now I've been given the chance to do that.

02:22Did he fight exactly how you thought he would fight tonight?

02:25Yeah, I felt he'd, I've had two losses and the two people who beat me put me on the back

02:29foot, and I think people, as I was saying to my dad before in the hospital, people kind

02:33of don't realise I'm a very very good inside fighter, just the two people who beat me put

02:38me on the back foot and beat me, but I'm very very good up close and I knew in that type

02:43of fight I'd come out on top and I thought he'd try and smother me, get close and get

02:47his inside work off, but I knew I'd beat him in that type of fight and I felt I was beating

02:52him at range with the jab, but then up close, nobody was telling me to just stay inside,

02:56shorten my shots up and probably what made it a better fight to watch, but I'm glad I've

03:01showed that, I am a good for the tall fighter, I can fight up close and I think people kind

03:05of forgot that when obviously with the two fights I lost.

03:08Just a quick couple of things before I let you go, in the ring afterwards, did you ever

03:12have a word with one of his team, he looked like you said sank?

03:14Yeah, at the end of the way he was shouting over his shoulder that he's damaged goods

03:18and stuff which I think is just a bit disrespectful, I get it, you've got to hype your man up and

03:23stuff, but we had a young fighter lose his life a couple of weeks ago, so shouting stuff

03:28like that is a little bit disrespectful and then he came in my changing room to watch

03:31me get my hands wrapped and just made a few comments that I just thought were a little

03:35bit disrespectful, my nutritionist gave me a drink and stuff to go in, he said that's

03:40not going to help you, and then the board inspector was being nice and said how long

03:45I'd been professional and he said well you can hang them up after this one can't you,

03:48and I just thought he was just a bit of a tit to be honest with you, but I bit my lip

03:52and I said after it, don't ever speak to me like that, I think you're very disrespectful

03:55and he was like oh I've got to shit talk a bit, so I said I've got to shit talk and then

03:59there's been a tit basically and it backfired because I think they wish I was damaged goods

04:04because I'm clearly not, not yet.

04:07Last one, spoke to Eddie Irn immediately after your win, he obviously mentioned the

04:12fight that's just about to happen now, the rematch between Peter Beaver and Bivol, hasn't

04:15happened yet so can't get your opinion, he also mentioned Anthony Yard who's obviously

04:20got that fight with Lyndon Arthur coming up, and then outside that Benavidez who's here

04:24tonight as well, I mean these are names that obviously you are one of them, I'm assuming

04:29you want the best one possible for you and what's right for your career.

04:33Yeah, because I fight, I do what's best for me and my career, I've said I'm at that point

04:37in my career now where I'm going to do what's best for me and like I said the Boatty fight

04:41was best for me, it put me closer to where I wanted to be and there's been talk for years

04:45over the domestic fights and I'm not in boxing just because it's a good domestic fight, I'm

04:48in boxing to become a world champion and I was never really, Boatty was never in my sight

04:55with Dominic becoming interim world champion, he then had something that progressed me in

04:59my career and I've beat him, I've took his interim world title so I want to be a world

05:03champion so whatever, I think we know a little bit more in about an hour's time of what's

05:07going to happen with the division and the belts and who's going to have them and whatnot

05:11so I don't know, we'll see, let my wounds heal, get back in the gym with Boatty and

05:16then we'll see what the best option out is for me but it's a good division, there's a

05:19lot of good fights out there for me but I want to be a two-week world champion, I've

05:22said that from the get-go, that's the goal and tonight put me very, very close to achieving

05:27that so, you know, one more step and hopefully I can get it.
