00:00Please welcome Joe and Anthony Russo. Joe and Anthony Russo.
00:21I'm a little shorter. I think I'm going to want to adjust this.
00:25Wow, this is a very surreal experience.
00:28My wife and I came to California as wide-eyed Midwesterners 30 years ago in a U-Haul truck.
00:35We drove across the country so that we could start our journey at UCLA Film School.
00:41And the very first place that we visited after settling into student housing was here,
00:47the famed TLC Chinese Theater, to see the incredible history of visual storytelling
00:51encased in cement in front of this revered picture house.
00:55And so here we are later, Alicia, 30 years later, becoming part of that history.
00:59This is just unreal.
01:02So, oh God, speech is out of order here.
01:08I'm going to give it to Amph.
01:10I mixed it up.
01:11Damn it, Amph, you did this.
01:14Here we go.
01:19No, I love it.
01:20It's all friends here.
01:22Boy, Soph, I think we're missing a page.
01:26Not going to remember it by heart.
01:30The very nature of my brother and I's collaboration, that's okay, I'll wing it.
01:37The very nature of my brother and I's relationship is collaboration.
01:40We prize it.
01:41We prioritize it above everything else, as Pratt said.
01:46And as we look out at all the beautiful faces here today,
01:49we just want to express how truly grateful we are for your collaboration with us,
01:54for your love, your friendship, your support.
01:57And we know that this moment is as much your moment as it is our moment,
02:01because no story gets told without the help of dozens of dedicated,
02:05passionate partners working hand in hand, building a story together brick by brick.
02:11I've been told I have to say these things quickly,
02:13these thank yous quickly, because that cement's going to dry,
02:16so I'm going to go through this quickly.
02:18Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the hilarious Mr. Chris Pratt for that very kind introduction.
02:24This man is one of the funniest.
02:28Give yourself a round of applause, please, Chris.
02:31He's one of the funniest, warmest, most talented human beings you could ever hope to work with.
02:35We love you, brother.
02:37We want to thank the amazing Millie Bobby Brown, who's here in spirit.
02:41Thank you to Netflix for being such a great home for us, for your kinship and disruption,
02:48and for your relentless support of our films, especially The Electric State.
02:52Thank you so much to Ted, Bella, Dan, Doug, Ori, Marion, Jonathan, Alex, Chris,
02:59and the unbelievable marketing team.
03:01Here's to many more years of partnership and success.
03:04And then speaking of partnership and success,
03:06thank you, Kevin Feige and Lou D'Esposito,
03:09for the most fulfilling, important, and impactful decade of our careers.
03:14They are brothers by birth, and they are brothers through friendship.
03:18So it's time to walk through the fire again, boys,
03:20but the good news is there's going to be a lot of laughs and some great amaro along the way.
03:24Thank you to Brian Lord for not only being the most important person in our professional lives,
03:30but for also being the most kind, decent, and humble.
03:33You're a beacon of many, sir.
03:35And thank you to John Garvey and Joe Cohen for always fighting the good fight.
03:39Thank you to Alison Brie and Yvette Nicole Brown for the family we created on Community,
03:44for the memories and the love that forever changed our careers.
03:48Thank you, Nick Nesbitt, for being our partner in crime and for helping Agbo become Agbo.
03:55Many thanks to our Agbo team, our Agbo family, many of whom are here today.
04:01To our visionary partner, Donald Mustard, for his inspiration and commitment to reinvention.
04:07To our dear friend, Chris Brereton, for your guidance and wisdom.
04:11To our second mom, Marion Colti-Levine, for your warmth and protection.
04:17To the smartest man we've ever met, Dominic Hughes, thank you for making technology serve artists.
04:23To our longest collaborator, Jake Aust, thank you for your big brain and your big heart.
04:30And most importantly, to our sister, Angela, for her fearless leadership
04:35and for being the glue who binds us all together.
04:43Mom and dad, how crazy is this shit, right?
04:47Thank you for letting your boys follow their dreams.
04:51And Alicia, Sofia...
05:01One second.
05:03Basil, Ava, and Leah, I can never say thank you enough for putting up with the film business.
05:10But boy, we had a lot of fun along the way.
05:15Lastly, I want to thank Ailey, Salma, Farouk, and Faz, and everyone at TCL's Chinese Theater
05:22for this unbelievable honor.
05:25And I think I've talked enough.
05:29And it's Ant's turn here.
05:34Did I say we checked in for Sunday?
05:36I don't think so.
05:41Oh, wait. Sorry.
05:44Did I think Marcus and McFeely?
05:46I think I missed a page here.
05:48These are our partners in crime.
05:51Yes.
05:52Jeff Ford, Chris Castaldi.
05:57Again, part of our incredible work family that has helped us build some of the biggest movies ever made.
06:03Thank you, guys.
06:09So that was a highly edited thank you list.
06:13Because we owe so much to so many.
06:16Oh, I think this is your missing page.
06:22So look, being able to share in the experience of cinema, both as film fans and filmmakers,
06:28has been one of the most meaningful parts and greatest thrills of our lives.
06:33The movie theater has always been a type of sacred space for us.
06:37And the Chinese Theater is one of the world's greatest movie temples.
06:42It keeps the flame lit.
06:45And for it to have created such a unique and, frankly, cookie ritual as this,
06:51for all of us to enjoy is one of the great surprises and treats in all of cinema.
06:56My wife, Ann, who is here with me today, and I used to live not far from here,
07:01and we've enjoyed this courtyard with our children many times.
07:06These strange tablets have given us a sense of delight and wonder, as they have to so many others.
07:13And I want to thank the late, great Hollywood showman, Sid Grauman,
07:18for creating this incredible theater and this crazy tradition.
07:23I also want to thank especially the currently great Ellie Samaha,
07:28for all you've done to reinvigorate this place and keep it vital, thriving,
07:33and for inviting us to become even more a part of it.
07:36We've always felt a special connection here, but this is certainly changing the relationship.
07:42Incredibly, Sid Grauman also created another epic movie temple
07:47just down the boulevard called the Egyptian Theater,
07:50and Netflix is now the caretaker of that wonderful space.
07:54And on Monday night, there together, we will be presenting the world premiere of The Electric State.
08:00So, yet one more thanks to Mr. Grauman.
08:05Finally, speaking of someone who has poured his share of concrete,
08:09let's see how Joe and I mess up this beautiful setting here.
