00:00I'm Ronnie and this is the show that introduces you to original music artists from around
00:22the county.
00:23Each artist will be here with me in the studio to talk about and perform their own original
00:27music.
00:28Today I'm joined by some of the members from the rock band Freedom Cage from Maidstone.
00:32Thanks for being here guys.
00:34So Freedom Cage, what's a name like that?
00:38Where did that come from?
00:39Good question.
00:40It's the same old cliche.
00:41It came to us in a dream.
00:42I dreamt of it one night.
00:43What kind of a dream could that be?
00:44I just woke up one morning and I just wrote it down.
00:50I still don't really know what it means but I think people make their own kind of assumptions
00:54and illusions on it.
00:55Okay.
00:56What's your illusion on it?
00:57I just like the name.
00:58I think it's cool.
00:59We were talking a little bit off camera how you kind of joined the group and then revamped
01:04the name.
01:05I wouldn't say we revamped the name.
01:08There was a lot of content from Freedom Cage in the early days well before I joined and
01:11then when I did join and Craig and Dan, the original members who showed me the content
01:16of Freedom Cage back in like 2013, 2016, I said why don't we redo them again and get
01:22them sort of out there so we can play them live again to the public because we were gigging
01:26quite a lot pretty much every weekend for like a whole year and a half.
01:32So we just started doing that and then going over them again, writing new songs, getting
01:37new EPs out there and I just thought that the name, there's not another Freedom Cage
01:42out there.
01:43It's not a catchy name.
01:44Even when you go on Spotify and type in Freedom Cage, there's only, I've only ever seen our
01:48Freedom Cage.
01:49There's always usually another Freedom Cage or another band out there somewhere with the
01:52same name.
01:53So on that way, I think we're very lucky.
01:56Yeah, well that's a good way to get it out there and the other best way is to jump into
02:00your music from the go.
02:03So let's hear your first song.
02:05Awesome.
02:07What does it have to take to just make you love me?
02:19Can't bear the thought of losing you now.
02:23I won't let this pass on by.
02:27We both have the right to be with each other.
02:37Please don't accept this fantasy while I try to uncover what you see in me.
02:47So I wrote another love song.
02:50I want you to know that you threw me wrong.
02:57I just can't go on like this no more.
03:13Go leave, don't say goodbye.
03:16Goodbye is cruel to you, it makes you cry.
03:20All my life I've watched dereliction, learning abandonment is you.
03:30It's funny how things begin, and sometimes tragic at the end.
03:36But it only truly counts when you understand what deepened.
03:43I need hospitality because I feel so destroyed.
03:55Waiting up all night trying to balance this loss.
04:03So sing for me, brave and beautiful boy.
04:11Please darling, sing for me so I can advertise.
04:21Heaven knows I'm in love with my girl.
04:27She is my savior and she has soul.
04:58So I wrote another love song.
05:02I want you to know that you threw me wrong.
05:06I just can't go on like this no more.
05:10I just can't go on like this no more.
05:16I just can't go on like this no more.
05:22I just can't go on like this no more.
05:27So sing for me, brave and beautiful boy.
05:35Please darling, sing for me so I can advertise.
05:45Heaven knows I'm in love with my girl.
05:51She is my savior and she has soul.
06:03She has soul.
06:09Ah, she has soul.
06:14Ah, she has soul.
06:20Ah, she has soul.
06:28Ah, she has soul.
06:34She has soul.
06:38She has soul.
06:44Amazing. Well, we didn't really get to hear much of the background about that song.
06:50So your next song, tell us a little bit about it before we get into it.
06:54You. So that was a song written quite a few years ago.
06:58We didn't really perform it much at all.
07:02We're going to record in the studio very, very soon and we're going to put it down and record it that way.
07:06But it's just one of them love songs. And most people seem to like it, don't they?
07:10Yeah, I think so. We enjoy playing it.
07:14So it's your crowd pleaser.
07:18For us at the moment, we've put it out there a few times, haven't we, during gigs and a lot of people do seem to like it.
07:22Yeah, I think there's a lot of meaning and stuff behind it.
07:26And I think people can take that song as they choose it from their perspective.
07:30Yeah, I think that's basically the thing with all of our songs.
07:34Everyone makes their own kind of assumption and what they feel from it and what sentiment they can take from it.
07:39Well, I can't wait to find out what I can take away from it. So let's get to it.
07:47I can see your face
07:51So clear in my mind
07:55And the feeling again
07:59I just can't leave behind
08:03No way back, we've come too far
08:07And I know you can't steal my heart
08:11Just because
08:15This is love
08:19Cause I feel at home
08:23This feeling so strong
08:27Leave me alone
08:31This is love
08:36This feeling set in stone
08:40Won't let me go home
08:44Won't let me go home
08:48Without you
09:00In a perfect world
09:04We could have survived
09:08Let's take one more chance
09:12Let our hearts entwine
09:16No way back, we've come too far
09:20And I know
09:24You can't steal my heart
09:28Just because
09:33This is love
09:37Cause I feel at home
09:41This feeling set in stone
09:45Leave me alone
09:49This is love
09:53Cause I feel at home
09:57This feeling set in stone
10:02Won't let me go home
10:06Without you
10:24As I noticed you were mine
10:28I said I'm not gonna say goodbye
10:36Mine too deep to now cry
10:40In time I'll be fine
10:44I'll be alright
10:52This is love
10:57This feeling set in stone
11:01Won't let me go home
11:05This is love
11:09Cause you are the one
11:13This feeling set in stone
11:17Won't let me go home
11:21Without you
11:27Only you
11:31Only you
11:39Only you
11:47Only you
11:57Hello and welcome back to Facing Kent where I am joined with members from Freedom Cage from Maidstone. Thanks for being here guys.
12:09Thanks. Thank you very much.
12:11So the next thing we're gonna do is a little game, quick fire question round just to get to know you better, have a bit of fun.
12:15A timer's gonna come up on the monitor, it's gonna start counting down when I ask the first question.
12:19You can both answer, you can switch answers, it's completely up to you.
12:25You can plead the fifth, I know that's the wrong thing to say here, but you know.

13:49My favourite gig I've attended was probably Bon Jovi back in...
13:51Guns N' Roses Hyde Park.
13:53Yeah, mine was Bon Jovi at the O2.
13:55Oh, okay.
13:57It was pretty cool.
13:59First gig you ever played?
14:01Oh, my God.
14:03Druid's Arms, Mate Stone.

14:0913?
14:11Wow, okay.
14:13One music goal you have for your career?
14:16Tour the US.
14:20Mine would be just to get exposure.
14:22Okay, and very quickly,
14:24your dream venue to perform in?
14:26Wembley.
14:28LA Forum.
14:30Alright, and that is all of our questions.
14:32You made it before the end of time.
14:34Nicely done, guys.
14:36Alright, so let's get into your next song.
14:38Take it away.
14:46Is there a safe asylum
14:48Where I can rest
14:50And walk the rickshaws
14:52Contemplates the past
14:54Seen through the lies
14:56Penetrated for lies
14:58It's a spark of understanding
15:00That I'm not alone
15:02I'm not alone
15:04I'm not alone
15:06I'm not alone
15:08I'm not alone
15:10I'm not alone
15:12I'm not alone
15:14It's a spark of understanding
15:20Glow under moonshine
15:22Happiness
15:28And sanctuary
15:34Please come find me
15:38It's time for the pain to refrain
15:40You can watch me as I plumb into the depths You can hold my hand, but you won't see me
15:52cry I'll get through this without a lullaby
15:58I'm a new man, the future is still mine
16:10Believe me friend, when I tell you that my heart has been broken before
16:34Because you can never truly know love until your heart has been burned to the core
16:44Happiness, it's sanctuary
16:55Please come find me, it's time for the pain to refrain
17:05You can watch me as I plumb into the depths You can hold my hand, but you won't see me
17:15cry I'll get through this without a lullaby
17:21I'm a new man, the future is still mine
17:27I'll fade down, will you see me through?
17:53Encaged in love's residue
18:24Amazing! Okay, that was a lot of fun. I really like that one. That's a good one.
18:32So, a question I like to ask everyone, because music is such a difficult industry,
18:37what's the best advice you've been given in your career so far that you've taken with you?
18:42Don't stop.
18:43Don't stop and be yourself. Don't try and be someone else, always be natural, be yourself.
18:49And enjoy it.
18:51That's key. Enjoy it.
18:53Because it can easily become a burden if you're doing too much of something you're not comfortable with.
18:58Also, don't take yourself too seriously as well. If you take yourself too seriously sometimes...
19:02Yeah, just have fun with it.
19:04Have a lot of fun with it.
19:05Yeah.
19:06What element do you guys find to be the most fun?
19:09Me personally, I think when we get to the gig and before we go on,
19:16when we can have a quick chat, laugh, a beer and stuff like that and just complete banter.
19:21That's my favourite bit.
19:24Mine is usually the euphoric thing once you've just finished.
19:28Thank God we're done with that.
19:30But no, it's a good thing because all the endorphins are just shooting through the roof and you feel great.
19:37It's a hard one to pinpoint, that question, because there's so many good points.
19:41There is. Just going down the pub with the band's good.
19:45Well, I think that you guys have been great so far, but let's get into your final song before we have to go.
20:14Warm and bold, so shattered and torn
20:24I'm still searching, I won't be taken in
20:33No serene interim, this is purification
20:42One holy matrimony, the devil rides by your side
20:51I saw you waiting with the young hound
20:56Standing in the crossroads, stealing out your soul
21:01I can't wait, when the levy breaks
21:08Stand me up, when you have what it takes
21:19I'm still searching, I won't be taken in
21:28No serene interim, this is purification
21:38One holy matrimony, the devil rides by your side
21:47I saw you waiting with the young hound
21:52Standing in the crossroads, stealing out your soul
21:57The fire's burning, ready to accentuate
22:27I look deep into your eyes
22:39You persuade with your smile
22:48I'm still searching, I won't be taken in
22:59No serene interim, this is purification
23:08One holy matrimony, the devil rides by your side
23:17I saw you waiting with the young hound
23:22Standing in the crossroads, stealing out your soul
23:27One holy matrimony, the devil rides by your side
23:36I saw you waiting with the young hound
23:41Standing in the crossroads, stealing out your soul
