00:00Meanwhile, the price of onions, garlic, and ginger has already reached Php 200 in some markets.
00:08Some people are buying less so that they won't have to cry over the high price.
00:14Some shops are also reducing their orders so that they won't have to raise their prices.
00:22We have first news from Bea Pinlac.
00:24Some of our favorite Filipino dishes will not be missing, such as onions, garlic, and ginger.
00:35But the bitter reality for some of our customers is that the price of these ingredients is not affordable.
00:43In Pasig Mega Market, you're lucky if you can get 1 kilo of onions, garlic, and ginger that won't exceed Php 150.
00:53In some stalls here, the price is high.
00:56Onions from Php 120 to Php 160 now reach Php 200 to Php 240.
01:04For each kilo of garlic, it reaches Php 240 and Php 300 for the ginger.
01:10According to some of the vegetables sellers we talked to, their price depends on the drop in supply.
01:16But because it's expensive, the sales are good.
01:20They're buying just a little because onions and garlic are expensive.
01:25It's not like before when they're buying a lot.
01:28But there are some stalls in the market that even if the price doesn't drop,
01:31the price of onions, garlic, and ginger won't move since January.
01:37According to the Sinag group, the farm gate of onions is cheap.
01:41The price of red onions is Php 90 per kilo and Php 40 for white onions.
01:47It should not exceed Php 150 per kilo.
01:52We used to buy a lot of onions.
01:55Now, it's just Php 1 per kilo.
01:56We're just spending it on the vegetables we're cooking.
02:00Of course, we're just saving so that we can save money.
02:02The budget is also difficult.
02:06If there are still some vegetables that are lacking in the market,
02:09we will buy more to make it cheaper.
02:12In the stalls we visited, the price of onions, garlic, and ginger is high.
02:18It can't be removed from their recipes,
02:21especially since they're looking for the taste of their favorite Filipino dishes.
02:27They also can't just lower the prices of their stalls.
02:32People are used to that price.
02:34They don't afford other prices anymore.
02:39We're just controlling the amount of onions we're putting in our dishes
02:44so that our dishes taste good.
02:45We're just reducing the amount of ingredients, even if it's expensive.
02:50But the price is still the same.
02:53So that our customers can still buy from us.
02:57It's hard to increase the price.
02:59We're still trying to get the statement of the Department of Agriculture about this.
03:04This is the first news.
