00:00I don't think you can like fangirl out over your own dad, that wouldn't work. I like TV,
00:06I came up doing television. You know, a couple of days with a teleprompter and then,
00:10you know, being tortured by Robert De Niro. Hello guys. Hello. I hope you're doing well.
00:15Lizzie, Dan. Dan, I don't think we've spoken before but before we start I just want to let
00:19you know that Legion, mate, for me was the best show on TV, like the best show on TV at the time
00:25and I live in hope for a kind of messy R-rated MCU crossover with you sometime in the future.
00:32Would you do that? Would you like to step into that sandbox again? Yeah, it was a really fun
00:36role. I'd love, yeah, it was great fun. I'm glad you enjoyed it. But doing a limited series on
00:41Netflix, a kind of political thriller with Bobby De Niro, that's as close to a show thing as you
00:48can get, right? I'd hope so. Is it? I think so. Rest easy. I'll take your word for it. Yeah,
00:54yeah. Sleep well tonight. How's this experience been? Obviously you're an incredibly experienced
01:02actor who's been around for many years, done loads of great projects, but going toe-to-toe
01:07as the daughter of Robert De Niro on this, with this kind of script, on this kind of show,
01:12did I feel any different to a normal job? Yeah, he's wonderful. I think oftentimes when somebody
01:20is that much of a legend, like objectively a legend, they don't really have to waste their
01:27time being generous or kind or authentic. They've earned the right not to be any of those things,
01:35but he really was the entire time. He was such a kind and generous scene partner. Did you ever
01:44have to like shut that part of your brain off, the kind of cinemaphile, the person who's seen
01:50all these movies and have these preconceptions and all that kind of the excitement that comes
01:53with doing a project like this when you first get the script and the new agent says, yeah,
01:57you're in. Sure. Yeah. I don't think you can like fangirl out over your own dad.
02:03That wouldn't work. Plus like, I usually really like it. I, I mainly only get star
02:09struck for reality television stars. So this one was pretty easy. Oh God. That's definitely a sign
02:16of 2025, isn't it? Next year we'll be like, I really like these Tik Tokers. Oh no. Speaking of
02:21which, Dan, in this, you, you're inhabiting a character that speaks a lot to kind of where we
02:27are these days, the kind of Alex Jones type, the almost Tucker Carlson-esque type, people with
02:35more, more opinions than, than facts sometimes. What was it like kind of preparing for this role?
02:42I mean, from that point of view, it was really exciting because it's, you know, in our story,
02:45you know, Evan Green is, is representing the sort of the media in the, in the landscape of
02:49our story. And there, there are so many characters out there from all across the political spectrum
02:55who kind of embody the characteristics of Evan Green, this sort of sanctimonious, sometimes
03:01hypocritical, quite annoying you know, ratings hungry character. And it is, it's a real, it's a
03:09peculiar phenomenon of our age, this, this character. And no, it was great fun. And also
03:14the first chance I've had to work with a teleprompter at any length, and I would do
03:20that again. Oh, I loved it. I could do that all day. It was brilliant. If you could sign up for
03:24your next jobs and always have the words, just have everything up there. It's brilliant.
03:27You guys have both done a lot of TV and film work, and we do seem to be in this place where
03:31almost TV has kind of taken the blue chip. People get more excited by the launch of Severance than
03:38they do of like the next Marvel movie kind of thing. Is this a, is this a fun place to play
03:43at the moment? Are you guys just chewing up every role and opportunity that comes their way?
03:49I like TV. I came up doing television. I've always really enjoyed something that changes
03:58episode to episode, living in one character for an extended period of time. So I'm pleased that
04:04now people are finally taking television seriously. I think from a story point of view,
04:09it's, you know, it's very attractive to writers and to actors to have a few more hours to get
04:15your teeth into stories and characters. I think limited series are very attractive to actors
04:20these days where it's like, okay, you're not, this isn't a seven year commitment. This is like
04:23six months or something. I mean, for me, it was even less, you know, a couple of days with
04:27a teleprompter and then, you know, being tortured by Robert De Niro and I was out.
04:31But yeah, I think it's, you know, there's, there's a happy medium and I think, you know,
04:37it's, it's, it's often the people that are attractive. So whether it's a movie or a TV
04:41show, it's, you know, it's the director or the actors involved that really, you know, light me
04:45up. It's a pleasure to speak to you guys. Good luck with the next thing. We'll see you on the
04:48next one and have a lovely 2025. So we in now? Something like that. Yeah, that's depressing.
04:54All right, guys, I'll catch you in a bit. Bye.
