00:20In August 2023, President Bongbong Marcos suspended the 22 reclamation projects in Manila Bay.

00:27He said that it needs to be studied first if it follows the right guidelines and will have an impact or effect on the reclamation projects in the surrounding area and society.

00:36There are two reclamation sites in Pasay that were allowed to continue due to compliance with the D.E.N.R. compliance review.

00:43Here, last month, the cumulative impact assessment of the D.E.N.R. commission was released.

00:48And their first forecast regarding floods was confirmed.

00:51Even though there will be changes in the physical environment of Manila Bay, it will really affect, number one, the circulation of water.

01:00The majority of those who were suspended for development in the reclamation, they don't have integration into the flood management plan for the different LGUs.

01:12We cannot move forward if we know that the water will be stuck from our rivers and from inland here in front of Manila Bay.

01:24There are other D.E.N.R. projects that need to be answered if they are allowed to continue.

01:30One is traffic management.

01:32If they are allowed to continue, where will they connect? That's another one.

01:38Another one is where will they get water? Where will they get electricity?

01:46How about the solid waste management plans?

01:50The latest report on fisheries was released.

01:55The affected fishermen were also protested against.

01:58The reclamation projects were also affected.

02:01There are people who will be displaced.

02:04And the developers and their LGU partners also need to have an answer on how they will really take care of the communities.

02:14The D.N.R. admitted that the Supreme Court's order to restore the quality of water in Manila Bay to the swimming and recreation quality is a big challenge for them.
