00:00The U.S. twists and turns in the mysterious death of open AI whistleblower Suchir Balaji.
00:05The United States San Francisco cops have ruled Balaji's death as suicide nearly three months
00:11since the probe was first launched. This in spite of Suchir Balaji's parents claiming that it was
00:15cold-blooded murder. The cops say Balaji died by suicide saying that the gunshot wound was
00:20self-inflicted and gunshot residue was found on his hand. Cops also say that alcohol and
00:26narcotic substances were found in Balaji's blood test. Suchir Balaji's parents cry foul
00:31over their son's death citing signs of struggle and blood spatter in the bathroom. But the cops
00:36say there were no signs of forced entry nor is there any evidence to back the homicide charge.
00:42Listening to what the mother of Suchir Balaji told India Today's Rahul Kaval.
00:48Purnima ji, thank you for speaking to us at India Today. Suchir's life was such a life where at a
00:57very young age he played an important role in trying to build open AI and therefore his mysterious
01:02death has raised a lot of concerns. Could you start by explaining to our viewers what really
01:07have you found out during the process of engaging these private investigators and what is their
01:13report telling you? When we went to the apartment we found that the bedroom was ransacked and we
01:20also found there was a sign of fight in the bathroom and when we fed the picture to Chachi
01:28PT we figured out that the splatter of blood is not like what it's supposed to be as for the cause
01:34of death and we also found separate plots of blood in the bathroom indicating he may have been hit
01:40separately other than the cause of death and more than anything else there was no suicide note left.
01:46In the times where they make a determination in suicide they take so many factors into account.
01:51The major factor is was the person depressed? They didn't even ask us and even today morning when I
01:58was speaking to the attorney he said we checked all the CCTV no one came in no one went out so
02:03we made a decision on suicide. I kept telling my attorney there are three entrances to the
02:08building one through the garage one through the back door those two don't have CCTV cameras
02:13how do you make this determination? But the police are not listening to us. Lobbying in San Francisco
02:20is so powerful the tech industry lobbying has introduced a lot of corruption and a precious
02:26life of my son has gone. He was so brilliant he wanted to make a difference to mankind he was
02:33different to mankind he was working on a project called future of doctor visit if he were alive
02:38today not just for us for humanity he would have done a lot of wonderful things we just
02:44not lost a son we lost a nephew we lost a cousin we lost a grandson and his you know like our
02:53dreams of his marriage being in-laws have seeing our grandkids everything has been snatched away
02:59from us.
