00:00The only story the world is talking about right now is the conflict in the Middle East.
00:09And as an outsider, I have to say what's really struck so starkly for me in the last week
00:15or so has been the utter lack of humanity on both sides.
00:20How can anyone justify the killings of innocent people, whether they're Palestinians or Israelis?
00:26At the end of the day, we're all human.
00:28You can support the Palestinian cause, you can support the struggle that the Palestinians
00:33have undertaken for years now, and yet not support the terrorism that has been undertaken
00:38by Hamas, killing and massacring innocent women, children and others in Israel.
00:44Those attacks have horrified the whole world and justifiably so.
00:48On the other hand, you may support Israel and the position that it takes in the conflict,
00:53and yet you don't have to condone the kind of humanitarian crisis that Israel is creating
00:58in Gaza at the moment by cutting off food and fuel and other essential supplies to the
01:03more than 2 million people who live here.
01:05That's what I'm focusing on in the column today on an issue that seems will rock the
01:11world for many months to come.
