00:00It's Ramadan and it's special for everyone, so as it's special for us.
00:16It's not only about food, it's about forgiveness, worship, friendship, family, all those comes
00:24together when you talk about Ramadan.
00:27People often confuse that it's only about food, we personally feel that it's a month
00:31in which you can see what exactly you are and you want to improve.
00:36So that's what Ramadan means to all of us.
00:38Every year we look forward to Ramadan, it is a month of blessings.
00:43It is not usually how much we pray or how much we give, we try to make it more in this
00:50month.
00:51Ramadan isn't just a month about fasting and staying away from food.
00:55I feel it is more towards faith and towards people in need.
01:01People in need as in we give them, we provide them with different food, shelter and clothes
01:09which makes their Ramadan fruitful too.
01:13Ramadan is feeling empathy towards the people in need and it's not like we are just trying
01:23to act like them, it's telling that we are trying to feel like how they feel in the whole day.
01:35This Ramadan is very special to us because my parents are here and most probably after
01:412018 we are celebrating this Ramadan together.
01:44Since Covid we did not get time to go there and they did not come over here, so it's a
01:49special Ramadan.
01:50My wife is a very good cook and she makes almost all kind of food in Iftar.
01:56She knows that my father likes fried items, so she makes sure that there are a lot of
02:00fried stuff.
02:01I personally feel healthy food, so she makes sure that there is salad or something else.
02:08Kids love dessert, sweets, so she makes sure that she cooks something for them.
02:13I make dishes, food for my kids, my elders and for my husband especially, whatever they
02:21like.
02:22Till last moment they will come to me, Mama please, I don't have, I don't see my stuff
02:27there, so I have to look forward for everything.
02:30I have made fritters as it is like, it is quite traditional in our place, like every
02:39evening time you have fritters.
02:42My husband loves biryani, pulao, so I made a pulao.
02:45My kids love sweets, I made sweets, I have fruit charts.
02:49We try to make things healthy and with taste.
03:01I have been fasting since I was 6 or 7.
03:04The start it was quite hectic because of my age first of all and second because of the
03:09time of Ramadan.
03:12It usually came around summer, which made it really difficult for us to fast.
03:17Now as the time is moving towards the winters, it is much easier and we hardly feel hungry
03:25or thirsty.
03:26Ramadan is not that hard, like unless it was in like the early times, because like before
03:34when it was my first Ramadan, I remember one day which in the assembly, a kid had a birthday
03:44and I took a chocolate and I went.
03:46I regret that moment now because I wish I knew that it was not right and it is nowhere
03:56as hard as people in need.
03:59It teaches us more about self-restraint because we can't just keep eating all day, we have
04:05to think about God and we have to pray a lot.
04:09My younger one, he started fasting at a very young age and he is very honest in his fasting,
04:17his prayers and everything and the sharing and caring, that is remarkable.
04:29Allahu Akbar!
04:31Allahu Akbar!
