00:00You know, the league is by far and away the main priority this season. It was disappointing
00:08though, a 2-0 home loss against Millwall, lots of changes, 10 changes in fact were made
00:14in it.
00:15You know, it's just one of those things, there's no point beating around the bush, everybody
00:18knows that this season is all about promotion. And the thing is with it, if you can have
00:22a cup run as well and get quite far in it and it doesn't harm your league form, etc,
00:27then great, all well and good and stuff. But to be honest, the conclusion of that game
00:31really was the fact that it may be just sort of the disappointment was that the players
00:35who came in, most of them, you know, obviously 10 changes and that was a big chance for players
00:39to come in and really, really impress.
00:41And it has to be said that nobody really stepped up to the plate and really excelled. Youngstown
00:47Chambers did very, very well on his debut at 17 and Isaac Schmidt was quite good in
00:51flashes but nobody really stood out. And I think that was probably the disappointing thing.
00:55I think people can probably definitely stomach going out of the FA Cup if you sort of go
01:00out of a bang or something like that, you know, or out of sort of like a Premier League
01:03team maybe. But obviously that was a game Leeds were expected to win. But we did say
01:07beforehand that it wouldn't be a massive shock. You know, we thought Millwark might make less
01:10changes than Leeds and that was definitely the case. And it was, you know, obviously
01:13it's a massively disjointed Leeds team when you make 10 changes. There are other factors
01:17as well. Liam Roberts, the Millwark keeper, had an absolute blinder, you know, made lots
01:22and lots of good saves. Obviously you have a penalty save and things like that. You know,
01:26Leeds had chances and stuff. But yeah, it was disappointing when you look at the afternoon
01:30as a whole and the performance and everything like that. But look, you know, it's one of
01:33them things where I think you just kind of like, you just sort of shrug it off, you know,
01:35and you move on basically because it is all about promotion. And to be honest, I sort
01:39of said beforehand that the biggest game of the day really wasn't Leeds against Millwall.
01:43It was probably Sheffield United against Mortsmith because, you know, which was obviously at
01:46three o'clock. And, you know, that was the one that matters most because that's going
01:48to have the biggest impact on the promotion race. And obviously the Blades got a victory
01:52as well. I don't think Chris Wilder was exactly thrilled with their performance, but they
01:56got the win anyway. So yeah, not a great day, obviously, a defeat and Sheffield United winning
02:01as well. But on the flip side, you could look at it and say, well, if Daniel Farker went
02:05full strength and played all of his big guns and he picked up two or three injuries to
02:08massive, massive players, then obviously you'd be sat there thinking, well, what did he do
02:11that for, you know? So I don't think you can lay many blame at Daniel Farker. I think he
02:14did the right thing. People might say 10 changes was a bit too many, but to be quite honest,
02:18I quite agree with him, really. I think that was the right thing to do. Roden and James
02:21had knocks as well. So that's why they missed out. So, you know, basically it is what it
02:25is, isn't it now? And now you just move on. The only one thing is, is like, you just hope
02:30it doesn't sort of like affect kind of like momentum and, you know, that sort of like,
02:33you know, that winning form and mentality and stuff. But it's a different team, basically.
02:38And hopefully it'll be a completely different scenario and atmosphere and conclusion when
02:42we return to Ellen Road for the visit of Sunderland on next Monday night. But we've got, obviously,
02:46another big game before that as well. Yeah. I mean, you'd probably hope that because there
02:50were so many changes, it wouldn't affect momentum because it wasn't really the same players who
02:54will be playing in any of the opening league games.
