00:00We have a game for you. We do this with every celebrity who enters our newsroom.
00:05So we are going to play the game Never Have I Ever.
00:07Oh my gosh, so original.
00:10Oh my god, I've not played this game ever in my life.
00:14The good thing is, is I'm in Dubai, so I know these questions are going to be PG rated.
00:18So yes!
00:21Never have I ever lied on my resume.
00:24Yes is a green and red is a no.
00:27No, I haven't lied on a resume.
00:28No horse riding skills that you don't have?
00:31No, you know, when I was making the resume, I was quite young.
00:34So I didn't know that maybe you should lie on your resume.
00:38Maybe I would have got the job. Who knows?
00:41So I haven't.
00:42Slept with my makeup on.
00:44And as a person who actually launched and promotes her own brand of makeup,
00:49have you done the crime?
00:50Yes, I have. A long time ago.
00:53Before I knew that you're not supposed to sleep with your makeup on.
00:56And those were, you know, most of those no, you know, washing of the face nights
01:04is nights I don't really remember.
01:08So let's just say it was a fun night.
01:10I had a great time.
01:12And hey, I woke up with some makeup on.
01:14What's the big deal?
01:15But now you know better though.
01:17Yeah, that's a big crime.
01:18Palmed off diaper duty.
01:19No, I haven't.
01:20I haven't passed on diaper duty to anyone.
01:22Both Daniel and I in the middle of the night can change diapers within maybe 30 seconds.
01:27We're so good.
01:29He has one child, I have the other.
01:31We're in and we're out and we're gone.
01:33Never have I ever had a crush on my Bollywood co-star.
01:36No.
01:36No? Okay.
01:37Never have I ever posted a positive review of your friend's movie,
01:41although you secretly hated it.
01:42No, because most of the time I...
01:44This is no.
01:46Usually when I post, you know, something about a friend, it's because I've seen it.
01:51And I do believe in posting things that are true.
01:56Because I have to see them again.
01:58So I'd rather not lie.
01:59Never have I ever used my fame and public figure clout to jump a queue
02:04or get a dinner table reservation.
02:05No, that is done.
02:06I'm very sorry.
02:08The queue part, I will gladly wait because I understand, you know,
02:12everybody should wait in line.
02:13I have no problems doing it.
02:14But what happens is that somebody's like, man, this way.
02:18So I say, okay, fine.
02:20I'll go.
02:21Thank you so much.
02:23So yeah, they are the ones pampering you.
02:25It's not you asking for those.
02:26No, no.
02:27Or if somebody's like hounding me at the airport,
02:29asking for photos over and over again.
02:32I say, you get me through the line and I will take your photo.
02:35Nice. I like it.
02:36That's called using your clout.
02:37It's barter deal.
02:38Hello.
02:38Yes, exactly.
02:39Never have I ever cheated on a test.
02:43Maybe.
02:44Like when I was really little.
02:46Yeah, I have.
02:47I wasn't, you know, one of those smart children in school.
02:50I was a C student.
02:51So I was always striving to be smarter.
02:53But, you know, it didn't work out in school so much.
02:57Okay.
02:57But I'm okay.
02:58You wanted to be a nurse?
03:00Yes, I did.
03:00Oh, it was true.
03:01Okay.
03:01I thought Wikipedia is not very reliable.
03:03I wanted to be a pediatric nurse.
03:05I wanted to work with children.
03:07And luckily for, you know, myself and my husband,
03:11we just opened up a children's art school.
03:13So I am not taking care of children in hospitals,
03:17but we have opened up this amazing school in Mumbai.
03:21Never have I ever pretended to like a director's work for a role.
03:24No, I haven't.
03:27Because if I have to pretend,
03:29that means that either I don't like it
03:31and I want to work with them, right?
03:33Is that what that means?
03:33That's right.
03:34No, I haven't.
03:35Never have I ever cried from exhaustion.
03:37I don't know if it's cried from exhaustion
03:40because I know it's exhaustion.
03:42It might be that someone has pushed my button so much
03:46and I'm so tired that maybe I have.
03:50Never have I ever Googled my own name.
03:52No, no, I have.
03:53Because I have to see what's popping up
03:55and what nonsense people are writing about.
03:58Okay.
03:58Yes.
03:59So responsible.
04:00Gulf News, I have to tell you, is very responsible.
04:02But having said that, what did you,
04:04what trial do you up recently?
04:06Recently, nothing too much recently.
04:10I think it's when I hear that there's just craziness happening,
04:14mainly in India.
04:17And I have to see what, you know, what's happening and why.
04:21Never have I ever stalked a celebrity on social media.
04:24No, no.
04:26Like stalking is a very strong word.
04:29Have I looked at somebody's page?
04:31Absolutely.
04:32Have I followed?
04:33Yes.
04:34Have I stalked them?
04:36No.
04:36Given someone a fake number.
04:38Absolutely.
04:40Most girls in this room will agree with this
04:44because they probably have done the same.
04:46It's just part of, you know, growing up.
04:48Never have I channeled any of the characters from Friends.
04:51No, no.
04:52But Seinfeld, yes.
04:56Elaine's dancing, you know.
04:59Love it.
04:59Never have I ever listened to the Canadian singer Brian Adams.
05:02I probably have.
05:03I grew up in Canada.
05:04So yeah.
05:05And never have I ever snuck out of the house.
05:07When I was a teenager.
05:08Yes, I did.
05:09You can see that in my biopic series.
05:12I'm sorry?
05:13You were a rebel with a cause.
05:14Yeah, I wanted my freedom.
05:16And you know, sometimes you have to break the rules.
05:21I know you're a mom of three.
05:22And you are trying to design this five-minute makeup kit,
05:25which is for women on the go, which is what we all need.
05:29How far along are you with it?
05:31The reason I want to create this kit
05:33is because I literally have in the morning,
05:35I have 30 minutes left to shower, change, put myself together,
05:40dry my hair, you know, put on makeup.
05:44And I have to be out the door
05:45because my kids have to go to school and they can't be late.
05:48And so that's why I'm trying to create different products
05:51that you put on.
05:53It's quick.
05:54It looks amazing.
05:55And you know, that's what really matters to any working mother
05:59who's, you know, on the go.
06:00And then finally, you look at yourself at lunchtime
06:03and you get a second to sit down.
06:05You're like, OK, I still look put together.
06:08This is good.
06:09You know, nothing's like, you know, some weird smearing this way
06:13or the makeup's coming off.
06:14And we all hate that.
06:16Anything goes in beauty, you think?
06:17Or should we follow rules?
06:19Like they say, right?
06:20I mean, at night, try to wear darker colors, et cetera.
06:22Or you think just wear what suits you.
06:24I think that, you know, in the night,
06:26you definitely can add, you know, more makeup.
06:29And in the day, if you're walking around with full glam,
06:32I mean, it might look a little too much.
06:35I believe in the idea of people, women who wear makeup
06:41to look naturally beautiful and just highlighting the things that look great.
06:45Of course, that takes work.
06:46It's not, it's the same effort, right?
06:50It's the same effort that you would take in the nighttime.
06:53It's just about knowing what colors go with your skin tones.
06:56And, you know, what's going to happen when you step out in the light.
06:59What do you think of contouring, though?
07:01And baking, is that because it takes time and to perfect it, it's not easy.
07:06So would you recommend that?
07:07And are you planning to also have your own palette, perhaps?
07:10I'm not sure if you do already, but do you have your own contouring palette?
07:13We have that in the making as we speak.
07:16And I think that contouring is definitely something that looks great on a lot of people.
07:21But if you over-contour, you tend to look older, I feel.
07:27Than looking young and fresh and beautiful.
07:31There's like a fine line with contouring, I feel.
07:34Than, you know, someone who's just like layering the contour on.
07:39It can either make your face look older or will make your face look,
07:43you know, more defined and beautiful.
07:46So I think that there's a definite line.
07:48Like I do minimal contouring, especially during the day.
07:52And even at night, we do some contouring, but nothing too heavy ever.
07:56Do you think the art is to blending?
07:58I mean, is blending everything?
08:00Because people keep talking about all these Insta, IGTV videos and beauty tutorials.
08:05Keep telling you, blend, blend.
08:06They're right.
08:07There's a reason why everybody says this, because they're right.
08:10And I think having the right tools, that will help you.
08:14Because if you're someone who's just starting to figure out how to do makeup,
08:21I feel less is better.
08:22Or finding the right brushes that will help you do that.
08:26Like with contouring, so you don't get those lines, use like this big fan brush.
08:31Yes, of course.
08:32That's like really soft.
08:33So it's only picking up a little bit of, you know, the makeup.
08:36Like a gladiator thing.
08:37Right.
08:37Yes.
08:38Yeah.
08:38Or a mohawk.
08:39Tell us about what's happening in the world of movies.
08:42I know you are also doing Malayalam and songs.
08:45You're trying your hand at South Indian films as well.
08:47So what should we know?
08:48What's next for you?
08:49I have a Hindi film.
08:50It's called Coca-Cola that will hopefully come out by the end of this year.
08:55And a South film called Rangila.
08:59What is it?
08:59Rangila.
09:00Okay.
09:01And what else?
09:02There's a few songs that I did.
09:04Okay.
09:04That's fantastic.
09:05I mean, you've already done a biopic.
09:07You know, which on Zee5 and you really liked it, right?
09:10You sanctioned it.
09:12You approved it.
09:13And you're in it.
09:14So are you happy with the kind of responses?
09:16Do you think people know you better after watching you in that biopic perhaps?
09:20I think that they definitely got a sense of, you know, my upbringing.
09:23And I don't think that the things that happen in my life
09:26are so extraordinarily different than anybody in this room.
09:31We all have things that happen.
09:33We all have sad things that happen.
09:35People who pass or, you know, our own struggles.
09:38It's about, sure, some of my decisions were not like anybody else in this room.
09:43But the core of like growing up and a lot of those struggles, I think are relatable.
09:51Um, the decision itself that maybe is not relatable.
09:56But I think a lot of the things that happen living in a, you know,
10:02a family that's come from India, first generation family in a different country
10:07and all the different things that you go through.
10:09I think that all that stuff is very relatable.
10:11And you're the queen of reinvention.
10:12You've done so many things now.
10:14I have to say, in terms of brand, you know how to build a brand.
10:17Is there really, I mean, is everything that you do in your life
10:20actually orchestrated as well?
10:22There's a lot of thoughts that goes into who you are.
10:24Like you're now a brand.
10:25I mean, if I look at it and I'm like, this is how you should actually roll.
10:29But not many can.
10:29But yeah.
10:30I personally don't give it too much.
10:32You know, as far as some orchestrated thing, like, okay, from here,
10:37this time to this time, we'll do this and this time.
10:40It's not like that.
10:41I think it's about going with the things that are happening around you
10:45and being aware of what are the in things to do or with the digital world
10:53or even with makeup or just anything.
10:58It's about doing things that I want to do.
11:01And if it presents itself and I have the opportunity to do it,
11:04then, of course, I'm going to.
