The air warmed up on Feb. 6 after icy precipitation in the early morning, allowing thawing ahead of the next round of winter storms.

00:00I am here in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where a winter storm brought impacts to the area,
00:04closing schools and making travel difficult. The day here in Scranton started off with freezing
00:10rain of vehicles and other surfaces covered in that freezing rain. Eventually that freezing rain
00:15transitioned to sleet and ice pellets. Fortunately, plenty of pre-storm salt treatment was done to
00:22roadways and sidewalks here, and that allowed traffic to flow through the area fairly well,
00:26but at reduced and cautious speeds. Where there was no salt treatment, some of that ice was able
00:31to accumulate, and residents were seen shoveling that ice off of the sidewalks in front of their
00:36homes and businesses. The storm has quickly raced off to the northeast, and behind it,
00:40temperatures were able to rise above freezing on Thursday afternoon, allowing that ice to melt
00:45and things to begin to dry out, just in time before another round of multiple storms begins
00:50this weekend into early next week. For AccuWeather, I'm Aaron Jajak in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
