00:00Two men who are illegally selling wild animals

00:04including some endangered species

00:06were arrested in the joint entrapment operation of NBI and DENR in Cebu.

00:11Jesse Atienza of PTV Cebu in the center of the news.

00:16In the prison of this brother,

00:19after being caught in an entrapment operation

00:22conducted by NBI Cebu and DENR,

00:26seven wildlife species were caught in the operation

00:29and were sold for P142,000.

00:33Among those caught were iguanas, parrots, and Burmese pythons.

00:38A Philippine hawk eagle and a Palawan hill mynah were also caught,

00:43which is considered an endangered species.

00:45According to NBI,

00:47those who were caught in the joint transaction with them were careful.

00:56So, when a person approaches the pusher buyers in this area,

01:02they proceed to the open space parking

01:04and this is where they unload or load the vehicles.

01:08And then when we saw that the undercover operatives were already in the room

01:16and this was already marked as money,

01:18this is where we rushed out.

01:20Authorities also alerted the illegal sale of wildlife species,

01:25including those who collect them.

01:28This alarming situation,

01:31especially in Cebu,

01:33is strategically located,

01:37those coming from Palawan,

01:39from Indanao,

01:41Leyte, Samar area.

01:44So, there are congregations trading.

01:48The intention of this operation,

01:50RA 9147,

01:52is for the conservation and protection

01:54of the wildlife.

01:56So, as much as possible,

02:07The rescued wildlife species are now in the custody of the DNR
