00:06Their task now is to find out if the bus passengers are roadworthy or safe.
00:11Live from Quezon City, we have the first news, Bea Pinla. Bea?
00:19Ivan, because of the increasing number of accidents on the streets, SAIC is more focused on finding out the roadworthiness of the bus passengers.
00:29That's why we were stopped this morning because of the expired fire extinguisher or the broken headlights.
00:37The Special Action and Intelligence Committee on Transportation is starting to investigate the number of public utility buses here in Quezon City.
00:44They are checking if the buses are following the regulatory standards.
00:48What are the things that they are checking?
00:50Are the documents of each bus that is traveling updated and valid?
00:54Is there enough equipment like fire extinguisher, early warning device, and others?
00:59Are the wheels and their windshields in good condition?
01:06Even the priority stickers on the seats for passengers with disabilities and other special needs,
01:12along with the city buses, are the target of SAIC this morning.
01:16The drivers of the buses that will not pass the roadworthiness check will be checked.
01:22Will they still be able to travel if they are stopped?
01:24According to SAIC, they can still travel for 72 hours after they are caught on the visa of temporary driver's license.
01:32But Ivan, if they pass the 72 hours and still travel, according to SAIC, this is considered driving without license.
