00:00The improvement of internet connectivity in the country is one of the goals of the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
00:07In the program Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said,
00:12In 2024, the country had more than 15,000 free Wi-Fi sites.
00:18This is the largest in the history of the country,
00:21whose target is public places such as markets, terminal of buses, airplanes, and others.
00:27The same goes for the municipalities and many others.
00:30With the help of free Wi-Fi, Secretary Uy said,
00:32the National Broadband Program was also activated for cheap and reliable connectivity.
00:38Secretary Uy added,
00:39Phase 1 of National Broadband is already active in Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and Metro Manila,
00:45while Phase 2 and 3 will be in the middle of next year.
00:50The partnership of the government in the private sector and other funding organizations is a big help here.
00:57We have also activated what we call the National Broadband Program.
01:03This is a fiber backbone that brings high-speed internet to our country.
