00:00Hey, let's talk. What's your biggest fear? If it's flying or stray dogs, you might
00:05not have any particular wild phobias. But how do you feel when you see something truly
00:10huge, like a giant skyscraper? If those colossal objects give you the creeps, you might have
00:16megalophobia. And now it makes sense why a megalodon is named for its size. Let's check
00:22out some of the biggest things humans have built. No need to worry, it's just all images
00:27on a screen. Right now you're looking at the world's
00:30largest wind turbine, which can produce a whopping 20 megawatts of power. Mingyong Smart
00:36Energy recently unveiled this big boy in Hainan, China, in September 2024. The previous record
00:42holder from 2023 produced only 18 megawatts. Well, if electrical technical isn't your
00:50thing, let me break it down for you. 1 megawatt, or 1 million watts, can power about 1,000
00:56homes. So this turbine can supply energy for around 20,000 homes, basically a small town.
01:03It has a massive rotor, nearly 1,000 feet across, and sweeps an area larger than 12
01:09NFL football fields. Mingyong is known for building the largest
01:13offshore turbines, and this one can produce a staggering 80 million kilowatt-hours annually,
01:19enough for 96,000 homes. Plus, it's built to survive tough weather, withstanding level
01:2517 typhoons at wind speeds of over 175 mph. And guess what? Mingyong is working on an
01:33even larger turbine that'll crank out 22 megawatts, and is set to be installed next
01:38year. But this time, it's got to cover 813,000 square feet!
01:44If you've ever ordered something on Amazon that's from overseas, or picked up some mass
01:49market clothing, you've probably relied on cargo ships. Most of those goods come by
01:54sea since it's way cheaper than air shipping. Just take a look at cargo ships with containers
01:59– they look like a bunch of Lego bricks stacked up. Each of those containers is based
02:04on a standard 20-foot intermodal container, which is basically a metal box that can easily
02:10switch between ships, trains, and trucks. We call these containers TEUs. To give you
02:16an idea of just how much they can carry, a fully-loaded Evergreen ship can hold up to
02:22742 million t-shirts. That means one ship could outfit every American with at least
02:28two shirts. Wow. Evergreen can fit 20,124 TEUs. But it's far from being the ship with
02:35the most capacity. Check out MSC Irena, the largest container ship in the world that can
02:41hold 24,346 TEUs. Registered under the Liberian flag, it stretches an impressive 1,300 feet
02:50long and 200 feet wide. While it shares similar dimensions to other ships, it has the highest
02:56capacity because it can stack those TEUs up to 26 layers deep. It surpasses the previous
03:02record holder, the OOCL Spain, by more than 150 TEUs.
03:09Speaking of ships, have you ever thought about how massive cruise ships can be? Let me introduce
03:14you to the Icon of the Seas, which weighs a staggering 248,663 gross tons. To put that
03:23in perspective, it's like combining 10 Statues of Liberty. This gigantic vessel stretches
03:28around 1,200 feet, so walking from one end to the other would take you roughly 5 minutes.
03:35The Icon of the Seas was officially named on January 23, 2024, and it can host 7,600
03:42passengers, along with 2,350 crew members, spread across 20 decks. It's powered by
03:48six strong engines, generating a whopping 67.5 megawatts of energy to keep everything
03:54running like a well-oiled machine. And when it comes to cruising, it glides through the
03:59waves at a speed of 22 knots, which is a nautical mile per hour – just a bit longer than a
04:05regular mile.
04:07Hey, how long do you think the longest bike is? Is it as long as a standard tandem bike,
04:13a truck, or maybe the length of 8 African elephants and one baby elephant standing in
04:18a row? The world's longest bike measures 180 feet, 11 inches. That's roughly as long
04:24as 12 average cars parked end-to-end. Built in the country of bikes, the Netherlands,
04:30this impressive ride was crafted to meet Guinness World Records criteria for a functional bike
04:36complete with two wheels, pedals, and handlebars. On June 3, 2023, they set the record for the
04:42longest tandem bike before tweaking it to aim for the overall longest bike title. Finally,
04:48on April 30, 2024, two riders – one steering, one pedaling – traveled 328 feet to snag
04:55that world record.
04:57The Autotram Extra Grand is the largest bus in the world, measuring around 101 feet. This
05:04giant can comfortably carry up to 256 passengers. Not only is it the biggest, but it's also
05:10super-efficient when it comes to performance and sustainability. The Autotram features
05:15four guided axles, three of which are controlled by an electro-hydraulic system. This setup
05:21lets it steer forward and backward just like a regular bus, while smart computer controls
05:26ensure that each section moves in sync, almost like train cars linked together. It's so
05:32efficient that drivers don't even need a special license to operate the Autotram. Sounds
05:37like a dream, huh? Well, sorry to break your pink glasses, but this guy was never put into
05:42service. The company that built it went bankrupt in 2013, so this bus never had a chance to
05:49give a ride to people out there.
05:52But there's something that measures the same 100 feet yet is operational and can give
05:57you a lift. Meet the American Dream, the super limo that's now officially the longest
06:03car in the world. Originally built in 1986 by car customizer Jay Orberg, it started off
06:10at 60 feet long, while most cars are about 14 feet long. But Orberg wasn't done yet.
06:16He later extended it to break the 100-foot mark and snagged a spot in the Guinness World
06:21Records as the longest car around.
06:24Back in its heyday, the American Dream made some flashy appearances in movies. But eventually,
06:30it ended up parked in a warehouse in New Jersey when maintenance became too much to handle.
06:36Renegade was just too complicated and pricey, especially when it was still just 60 feet
06:40long. Things turned around when Michael Manning, the owner of a technical teaching museum in
06:45New York, spotted the rusty old limo with broken windows and fell in love with it. Although
06:51it was in pretty rough shape, he wanted to save it. But when the museum's lease ended,
06:56money got tight, and Manning decided to list the car on eBay.
07:01After it was bought in 2019, the limousine got a makeover. Now it isn't just big, it's
07:07got a helipad, a swimming pool with a diving board, a putting green, and can fit over 75
07:13people. Now there's nothing much that beats the thrill of catching a close game surrounded
07:18by over 100,000 fellow fans cheering their hearts out.
07:22The biggest stadiums on the planet are mostly in the U.S., but the biggest one is not there,
07:28and even if you wanted to visit it one day, you'd have a hard time doing it. Frankly,
07:33it's next to impossible, because it's situated in probably the most closed country in the
07:38world. All you need to know here is that the stadium is massive, with a seating capacity
07:43of 150,000 seats. But there's something just as massive located in India. The Narendra
07:50Modi Stadium, formerly known as Motera Stadium, is located in Amnabar. This ginormous cricket
07:56stadium holds over 132 fans, making it the second largest in the world.
08:02Finally, we've got an enormous vacuum chamber that's probably bigger than your entire house.
08:08So what's a vacuum chamber exactly? Well, think of it like a super-sized vacuum cleaner
08:14designed to suck out all the unwanted gases. It's a sturdy enclosure where air and other
08:19gases are removed using a vacuum pump, creating a low-pressure atmosphere inside, what we
08:25call a vacuum. This kind of environment is perfect for researchers who want to conduct
08:30experiments or test equipment that need to function in space.
08:34The world's largest vacuum chamber can be found at the Space Power Facility at a
08:38NASA Research Center in Ohio. It's a massive space that measures 100 feet across and reaches
08:45an impressive height of 122 feet.
