00:00I would like to know your opinion on the possibility of a meeting with you and the prospects of Ukrainian settlement.
00:06First of all, I would like to say that Russia has never abandoned contacts with the United States administration.
00:15It is not our fault that the previous administration abandoned these contacts.
00:22I have always had business relations with the current president of the United States,
00:30but at the same time, I would say that we have pragmatic and trustful relations.
00:39I cannot but agree with him that if he had been the president, if he had not been robbed of his victory in 2020,
00:47then perhaps there would not have been the crisis in Ukraine that arose in 2022.
00:56We have always said, and I want to emphasize it again, that we are ready for these negotiations on the Ukrainian issue.
01:03But there are also issues that require special attention.
01:10For example, as you know, the current head of state in Kyiv,
01:15when he was still a fairly legitimate head of state, issued a decree banning negotiations.
01:25How can we start negotiations now if they are prohibited?
01:31If negotiations start within the framework of the current normative framework,
01:38they will be, to put it bluntly, illegitimate.
01:42This means that the results of these negotiations can also be declared illegitimate.
01:48Some preliminary hints can be made, of course,
01:54but it is quite difficult to talk about serious negotiations under the conditions of a ban from the Ukrainian side.
02:06In general, we have, of course, quite a lot of points of contact with the current administration.
02:15The search for a solution to the key issues of today is a matter of strategic stability,
02:22and, by the way, it is a matter of the economy, which is typical for the Russian and, let's say, American economies.
02:28We are not just one of the largest producers of energy resources, we are also the largest consumers of energy resources.
02:36This means that both for our economy and for the American economy,
02:42the prices are too high, which is bad, because we need to produce inside the country.
02:48By using energy sources, we need to produce other goods inside the country.
02:54The prices are too low, which is also very bad, because this undermines the investment opportunities of energy companies.
03:02We are hearing about the possibility of imposing additional sanctions on Russia.
03:06I doubt that he will make decisions that will harm the American economy itself.
03:13He is not only a smart man, he is a pragmatic man,
03:16and I can hardly imagine that there will be decisions that will damage the American economy itself.
03:27Indeed, it is better for us to meet, based on the realities of today,
03:36and calmly talk about all the areas that are of interest to both the United States and Russia.
03:44We are ready.
03:46But, I repeat, this, first of all, of course, depends on the decision and the election of the current American administration.
