A couple announced their pregnancy in a hilarious video - joking they're having a baby because they have too much "free time", "financial freedom" and too clean a house.

Rachel Lampton, 24, and her husband, Spencer, 26, filmed and posted the video to announce their news in a way that was "funny, honest and real".

In the footage, they couple sarcastically say: "We're just way, way too happy. I mean the amount of free time we've had, it's exhausting to be honest.

"You can only have so many hobbies and go on so many dates until you just have to say 'enough is enough'.

"And our financial freedom, are you kidding me? We are drowning in cash. It's been really heavy.

"And our home is just gorgeous - so clean all of the time. It drives me absolutely insane.

"We knew we needed to change. Spencer looked at me one day and he said: 'Let's f**k this s**t up.'"

The pair then shared funny clips of their baby scan and Rachel's bump.

They fell pregnant in April and their baby is due in December.

Rachel, a content creator and commercial film maker, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, US, said: "I didn’t want this beautiful photo of me in a dress, with Spencer nestled up to my bump with a caption along the lines of 'can’t wait for our sweet angel blessing this winter. So excited to be a mama.'

"That vibe just gave me the ick and I wanted to announce in a way that felt more authentic to who I am - which is funny, honest and real."

The pair have been together for six years and married for four.

Rachel said the video was also inspired by people throughout the early years of their marriage - who tried to convince them to wait as long as possible before having a child.

She said: "They were so adamant that at one point I cried to my husband and said: 'I feel like if we told people we were pregnant right now, no one would even be happy for us'.

"Because of how much they were trying to convince us to wait, I felt like people would be disappointed in us or something.

"So when I was writing the script, I included some of the main reasons we were told to wait longer to have kids - almost as a way of taking my power back over that situation."

The video highlights the satirical reasons they decided to make the change - including having too much free time to go out on dates, their home being "too gorgeous" and "clean all the time" and their financial freedom.

Spencer - an associate director of data in the North Central University admissions department - and Rachel discovered they were expecting a baby in April.

They shared the news with family and friends at the time, and then created and posted the video to social media in June.

It now has over 2.6million views and 214,000 likes on Instagram.

Rachel said the reaction on social media was "so beautiful and encouraging", and added: "I have been getting messages from followers that they are seeing the video all over X, TikTok, Threads - because other accounts are reposting it and going viral too.

"It’s been fun going to those other accounts and seeing thousands of more kind comments.

"Our family and friends think it is hilarious and they have all supported us so well already."

The couple's due date is December 16.

Since posting the announcement, Rachel has shared regular updates with her followers - including videos about her struggles with sickness and other symptoms through the first trimester.

She said: "I really came into this with such a positive mindset and felt so ready to fight through any sickness or symptoms I had but I was definitely naive to how crazy it can get for some people."

Since connecting with other women experiencing similar symptoms, Rachel realised she wasn't alone.

She said: "I am a few weeks into the second trimester now and hoping things start to turn a corner soon so I will feel a little more like myself and can get back into some of my normal routines."
