00:00 Good afternoon everyone. Well, today's a very exciting day because we are doing the final
00:09 installment of our LP Eats series on kebabs. Searching for Preston's best kebab, best chicken
00:15 shawarma, tastiest, best value, best atmosphere in the restaurant. So yeah, it's been a journey.
00:21 We've done nine restaurants so far. This is the tenth. It's going to be Ali's on Church
00:25 Street in the town centre. So I'm just walking across now, leaving the media factory at UCLan.
00:31 Just going to walk across and let's see what we can find. Let's see how it stacks up.
00:35 Right, so here's the kebab from Ali's. The vibe in the restaurant was amazing. Came out
00:41 of it with this absolutely humongous kebab. A few bonus chips chucked in on top there,
00:47 courtesy of the very kind man who was serving me at the time. He basically sought my kebab
00:52 and then said, "A few extra chips here, do you want them chucked on top?" I mean, who's
00:55 going to say no to that? First impression was very good. It looked delightful. It looked
01:00 just so tasty. Smelled amazing. So yeah, really keen to get stuck into this one. Like I say,
01:06 the size of it was just amazing. It doesn't do justice to it. So got stuck in, really
01:11 enjoyed it. This was a proper hefty meal and yeah, review to come.
01:15 Hi guys, Jack Marshall here. Now I've just been to Ali's for the latest edition of LPE.
01:22 Now, as you all know, we are reviewing kebabs in Preston. We're trying to find the city's
01:27 best chicken shawarma. And this is the end of the series, basically. This is the last
01:31 video in the series because this is the 10th one we've done. We're now going to rank them
01:35 and yeah, let's basically just get stuck into the ranking for Ali's and then I'll tell you
01:39 what's going to happen after that. So basically head across town to Ali's. It's the final
01:43 one. I'm really excited for this one. A very popular place, really good Google ratings,
01:48 really good word of mouth ratings. So yeah, I was anticipating a lot heading over to Ali's.
01:52 And the first thing to say was the vibe in there was brilliant. It was packed out. It
01:55 was a Monday. There were plenty of people in there. It was dead popular. The staff were
01:59 really helpful. They were really kind. They were, you know, they were just really courteous.
02:03 It was a 5 out of 5 on the vibe front. On to the kebab itself. Now, first thing to say,
02:08 it was massive. It was huge. This thing was like a mini rugby ball. It was massive. Really
02:14 hefty, really weighty, plenty in there. They didn't scrimp on anything. It was just what
02:20 you need when you're really hungry. You really fancy a kebab, something like that. Really
02:24 satisfying. So the naan itself was a 3 out of 5. It was a little thinner than you'd want.
02:29 It was tasty. It was nice, but a little thinner. Not quite got that classic softness from a
02:33 proper homemade kind of naan, that kind of thing. So 3 out of 5 on that front. The meat
02:38 was better. The meat was a 3.5 out of 5. The only thing I'm marking it down on is that,
02:44 I don't know, it was kind of, it was nice, it was succulent, there was plenty to it.
02:48 But I don't know, it was kind of missing that intangible classic chicken shawarma taste
02:54 to it. I don't know what it was. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I've been thinking
02:56 back, I still can't quite think why it didn't hit the spot where others have. But that's
03:03 a good reaction. That's a 3.5 kind of gut rating from myself personally. So yeah, it
03:08 was still good. There was plenty of it. So yeah, it wasn't, I'm tempted to say I'm being
03:13 a little harsh there, but like I say, that's a good reaction. That one. And one of the
03:17 extras, the salad in it wasn't the best. It was okay. Didn't really add much to the kebab.
03:22 It was nice to kind of have it there, I suppose, for a different bit of freshness every now
03:25 and again. A cucumber would pop into your mouth full and that'd be nice. Nice kind of
03:29 freshness. The garlic mayo was a little overwhelmed by the chicken itself. And it was quite like
03:35 oily and greasy. That's kind of nice in a way, but it did overwhelm a lot of stuff like
03:39 the garlic mayo, so you didn't really get that kick from it. So that's a 3.5 out of
03:42 five on that front as well. And then the price tag, it was £6.50, which as viewers will
03:47 know, that's kind of towards slightly the higher, middle to higher end of our price
03:52 range. But like I said before, this thing was massive. So you get plenty of food for
03:55 your buck there. So again, 4 out of 5 on that front, I reckon. Also, they were really kind
04:01 and they chucked a few extra chips on top of me, which is, I mean, you're not going to
04:04 say no to that either. So that was a good bonus as well. So total, they get a 19 out
04:08 of 25, which puts them just towards the top of the leaderboard. Pretty healthy, Champions
04:13 League spaces. So yeah, that's the review for Ali's. Thanks for watching. And yeah,
04:17 stay tuned next week for an update on what we're going to be doing next time. And hopefully
04:21 we'll be looking to speak to some award winners from this series. And then we'll keep you
04:24 posted on what kind of cuisine we'll be ranking and reviewing next. Be sure to comment if
04:29 you want us to do anything in particular, stuff like, I don't know, pizzas, burgers,
04:34 wings, whatever it might be. Hit us up, let us know. We'll go and review it. Thanks for
04:38 watching.
