Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hailed Joel Matip and Thiago as it was announced they would join the manager in leaving the club this summer.
Melwood, Liverpool, UK
Transcript
00:00 Joel and Thiago were in my office, we spoke a bit longer this week.
00:05 Have you ever seen a better free transfer than Joel Matip?
00:13 You will not find a more likeable person than Joel Matip.
00:17 He's funny in his own way, ridiculously funny to be honest,
00:21 and a wonderful man, with a wonderful family,
00:24 so he has to make a decision whether he wants to play on or not,
00:27 but we will see that, or read it, or whatever.
00:31 But whoever gets him is a lucky club, definitely,
00:36 because he's world-class and super humble.
00:39 That together is now really rare, like super humble.
00:43 And the next world-class player, then obviously Thiago.
00:47 In a parallel world, I would have loved to see the career without injuries.
00:53 I'm not sure he's the best, but definitely one of the best I ever saw.
00:58 He can do things, I was before that and didn't think it was possible.
01:04 He's in control of absolutely everything on the pitch,
01:07 unfortunately the body didn't play exactly a part.
01:10 But he's in a good way, he looked really good yesterday,
01:13 and I'm sure he won't want to give it a try again.
01:17 I told them already, "Thank you" for everything they did,
01:21 so I don't think I have to tell you that now.
01:24 Whoever leaves this club and worked together last year,
01:27 they were all brilliant, there's nothing.
01:29 If they wouldn't have been brilliant, they would have left last year,
01:32 because we don't carry problems with us.
01:35 So I'm really, really thankful for that.
