00:00 The Los Angeles Lakers are down another guard after Avery Bradley opted not to participate in the season's resumption.
00:07 Rae'Jawn Rondo is out 6-8 weeks with a broken thumb.
00:11 For more, I'm joined by Melissa Rowland of All Lakers.
00:14 Now Melissa, this means an opportunity I guess you would say, an even bigger one for someone like Alex Caruso.
00:21 Definitely Alex Caruso, Quinn Cook, we'll be seeing more in minutes.
00:25 But this is a huge blow for the Lakers. Even though Rondo was a reserve guard, he's somebody who the Lakers were really looking to help them in the playoffs.
00:33 He's somebody with a lot of postseason experience. He's won a championship before.
00:37 LeBron James has long called him one of the smartest guys in the league alongside Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala.
00:44 Rae'Jawn Rondo is just somebody who the Lakers can trust.
00:47 LeBron James felt comfortable having him by his side in a big-time game come playoff time.
00:53 The Lakers are competing for the highest stakes possible, a championship.
00:57 Obviously Rondo will be with the team so hopefully some of that intelligence can be passed along and if he can get back during the playoffs.
01:05 There's always this myth of playoff Rondo. I don't know if it's actually a myth because he's been better in the playoffs.
01:10 However, you could counter and say that a shooter like Cook next to LeBron, and Caruso's already played really well next to LeBron, could actually work out better for them.
01:21 Definitely, it will give guys definitely some more opportunities.
01:25 But also like you mentioned, the Lakers were already short in their depth in that area, missing Avery Bradley who's a star defensive perimeter player.
01:34 So this is just another hit for the Lakers at that position.
01:37 But as you alluded to, you're right, this will give guys some opportunities.
01:41 And Alex Caruso has been great for the Lakers throughout the year.
01:44 Quinn Cook has shown back when he was with the Warriors that he can step up during big-time moments too.
01:50 So yeah, exactly, when one guy goes down, another guy will have a chance to show what he can do.
01:56 And one thing's for sure, it already was going to be, but even more so, the ball will be in LeBron James' hands come playoff time.
02:04 Melissa, appreciate your time as always.
02:06 Thanks.
