00:02 In 1968, George Hirst created his first
00:10 manufactured back vehicle called the Olds Hirst 442.
00:14 With that ride, he wanted to create
00:16 a gentleman's hot rod, if you will.
00:18 Something that was fast, something that was powerful,
00:20 and also understated in styling
00:22 and capable of being driven every day.
00:25 Fast forward 42 years and Hirst Performance Vehicles
00:28 based in Southern California is doing the exact same thing.
00:31 Relieving the legend that Hirst created so long ago.
00:34 But this time, in a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.
00:38 As you can tell, it sports the classic
00:39 Hirst black and gold paint job,
00:41 as well as 20 inch forged wheels,
00:43 a lowered Eibach coilover suspension,
00:45 and of course, the big Magnuson supercharger.
00:48 With the Magnuson supercharger on board,
00:51 it produces over 600 horsepower and 550 pound feet of torque.
00:55 That's more than 174 horsepower and 130 pound feet of torque
00:59 more than the SS Camaro.
01:01 So we brought the Hirst to sunny California
01:04 to see what she can do.
01:05 So let's get behind the wheel and have some fun.
01:07 (car engine revving)
01:12 (car tires screeching)
01:15 First up, acceleration.
01:30 The Hirst Camaro did zero to 60
01:32 in a blistering 4.1 seconds.
01:34 (car engine revving)
01:38 (car tires screeching)
01:42 It completed the quarter mile in 12.3 seconds
01:45 at 116.7 miles per hour.
01:47 In 60 to zero braking, the Hirst Camaro stopped in 106 feet.
01:56 On the Motor Trend figure eight course,
01:59 it ran a fastest lap of 24.7 seconds at 0.78 G average.
02:04 Finally, on the 200 foot skid pad,
02:08 the Camaro attained a 0.96 G average.
02:12 So the 2010 Hirst Camaro has the looks, has the power,
02:17 and is definitely a gentleman's hot rod.
02:19 So for $25,000 more over a stock Camaro SS,
02:23 we say it's a good bet.
