00:00 You're going to want to look at your cell phone bill closer because some cell phone
00:04 companies are increasing their monthly rates if you're on an older plan. It starts this
00:08 month for AT&T customers and impacts anyone on the now retired unlimited elite plans.
00:14 It's an extra $2.50 per line you'll have to pay. In Verizon's case, the rate increase
00:19 goes into effect next month and applies to customers on the unlimited postpaid wireless
00:24 plans listed here. And it's a $3 increase. Retail expert Trey Bodge says you don't always
00:29 have to switch providers to get a better deal. If you're more comfortable, say with a legacy
00:34 brand and you don't happen to be a very active user on your phone, you should definitely
00:39 be paying $25 or less per line. She says another option would be to change carriers if you
00:45 can get out of your contract. Mint Mobile, for example, has plans for $15 a month and
00:50 Consumer Cellular and Telemobile also have similar low cost plans. An AT&T spokesperson
00:56 told me if customers want to make a change, there are other plans that may better suit
01:00 their needs. And Verizon said it encourages customers to move to the new unlimited plans
01:05 at any time.
