Hank Canfield, leader of a gang of horse thieves, attempts to steal a wild racehorse called El Diablo. The crooks bungle the job, but in making their escape, they kill a Ranger named Elliott Norton. The ranger's older brother Bob sets out to bring his brother's killers to justice, not realizing the apparently respectable Canfield is the guilty party. A young mute orphan referred to as the Wild Boy is the only one in town who knows who the killer is, and Bob Norton attempts to communicate with the child to draw the secret out of him. Meanwhile, the horse thieves make further attempts to kidnap the prized racehorse.

10:35The vigilante just took Lee Weston to the sheriff's office.
10:38What?
10:39Yes.
10:40I saw that fellow Roberts riding with Bates tied up.
10:42Bates?
10:44That means he lost the devil horse.
10:45Oh, never mind the devil horse now.
10:47It means our own...

11:07Sheriff, they're trying to frame me to save their own necks.
11:10Roberts killed Slim Johnson.
11:12And Weston murdered Allen.
11:14You've had your say, Bates.
11:16Roberts, if you didn't see the man that fired the shot at you,
11:20How do you know it was Bates?
11:22Well, his horse had a broken shoe.
11:25The wild boy and I follow this trail.
11:40I ain't aiming to let you make a target out of me twice.
11:50What do you mean?
11:52You know what I mean.
11:54And I'm here to find out why.
11:56Sure I took a shot at you.
11:58To keep you from killing Lee Weston.
12:00Yeah?
12:04Whoever that is, keep your mouth shut about me.

14:06That don't tell me how Slim Johnson was killed.
14:09Robert, stick that devil horse on us like I told you, Sheriff.
14:13There's no use, Bates.
14:16The Wild Boys saw everything.
14:19He's savvy as hell to talk now.
14:23And he can tell the Sheriff just what happened.
14:25Come on, son.
14:27Tell the Sheriff what you saw.

15:17Don't make me tie you up.
15:47Mr. Allen.
15:48Mr. Allen.
15:52The outlaws are coming, Mr. Allen.
15:53They're after your cattle.

16:04He shoot men.
16:05I saw him.
16:06Who are you?
16:08That pledges a case against you, Bates.
16:10I arrest you for the murder of Mark Allen.
16:14That clears you, Weston.
16:16But it don't explain how you're mixed up with the outlaws.
