ನವರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಮೂರನೇ ದಿನದಂದು ಮಾ ಚಂದ್ರಘಂಟ ದೇವಿಯನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು. ಆಕೆ ಹುಲಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸವಾರಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವರು ಮತ್ತು ಹಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂದ್ರನ ಘಂಟೆಯ ಆಕೃತಿಯಿರುವುದು. ಚಂದ್ರಘಂಟವೆಂದರೆ ಹಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂದ್ರನಿರುವುದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು.
